"Very nice room , simple but complete , very clean . The restaurant serves very good breakfast with a view of the lake . The reception is a little hidden and people appear to leave their post early. Had to look for it . No information was given on where to go for dinner and they forgot to put water in our room. It was ok but the service could be better (except at the breakfast restaurant)"

"I read the reviews, and booked this lodge specifically because of its location- it's right at the entrance to Yaxha-Nakum-Naranjo National Park. I've stayed at jungle lodges before (Tikal), but if it's your first time expect no air conditioning, (not really a problem except middle of the day in spring-summer), electricity *may* be rationed after dark night (it wasn't) for me, and WiFi is good in the rooms nearest the lodge. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and recently updated. There were convenient power plugs in the room for charging devices. What you've read is all true- Gabriella, the original owner still runs it along with her sons. She and her staff treated me with old-world hospitality that is hard to find these days. Whatever I needed she found a way to make it happen. I was lucky-the seasonal road to Nakum was still open to vehicles. If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing location to explore the Peten region, this is it. The lodge has a big open-air dining room, multiple covered viewing decks with hammocks. Lake swimmers can cool off in the protected swim enclosure. I looked, but never met Roscoe, the local crocodile mascot. The price was more than reasonable-and because of the season I was the only guest for 2 nights. The food was plentiful, with enough on the menu to satisfy all diets- the pizza and pasta sauces were exceptional, no surprise given the family's Italian roots. I will be back again."
