We feel lucky to have picked such a great place for our amazing stay in Florence. We stayed here for nine nights. The location is absolutely perfect. It's about a 3 minute walk to the Duomo and 10 minutes to the train station. San Lorenzo is about 5 minutes away and the river is about a 10 minute walk. We walked everywhere in Florence and took a cab only once. The B&B is on the second (third to Americans) floor of an old but restored building. It has a small elevator. The B&B is only about six rooms, and one of your hosts, Federico and Francesca, is there every day, and are always available via phone or text. Rooms are tidied, trash is emptied, and beds are made by a housekeeper daily. The rooms are all different and each is named after a notable Florentine woman. We stayed in Simonetta, which is a large double in the corner of the building. We deliberately chose the larger room due to the length of our stay and the larger bathroom -- but for a night or two, one of the smaller rooms would have been fine. Fortunately, photos of each room and square footage information is clearly included on the website, so you can make an informed choice. The bed in our room was huge -- it was two twins together made up as a king, which was as large or larger than an American king. The bed was made up American-style with a top sheet (at least for us). The bed was very comfortable and not mushy like a lot of hotel beds. We also had a large walk in area with a two drawer dresser and a closet with a shelf above next to the large bathroom. There was plenty of space, even for a long stay. Breakfast is served to you in the breakfast room based on choices you send in the afternoon prior by dropping off a form (see photo) or sending a text. The breakfast is not an American-style breakfast with eggs and bacon, but an Italian style breakfast, and everything was fresh and well-prepared. In addition to coffees and drinks, there are croissants and breads, cereals, fruit, yogurt, meats like ham and salami, and cheeses. It's plenty of food of high quality. It took us a couple of days to figure out how not to order too much. Try the daily cake! Although the B&B is adjacent to a major street, they have done some terrific soundproofing, because the room was very quiet with the windows closed. In addition to being available for questions, Federico and Francesca also provide a useful book of places to see and eat. We had an amazing dinner of Florentine steak at one of the recommended restaurants. Federico also went out of his way to answer any questions and resolve any small issues we encountered. If you want an impersonal, large, full-service hotel, that's where you should go, but we didn't go to Italy to stay in a Marriott! We couldn't have asked for a better location, a more comfortable room with lots of local character, or kinder hosts. When we are in Florence again, we'll be back.
