Dirty, cold, tired hotel. We didn’t stay after seeing our room. Please see my photos. There are two parts to this hotel that are linked by a corridor. You enter through the main door where the reception is. We were then given room 311, that is up the stairs, along the corridor and back down the stairs on the other side. We realised that we were then in an extension that you can see from the carpark. The room was cold, there were dead spiders, cobwebs everywhere. The bedsheets were clean, but no mattress protector. The bathroom was dirty and scruffy. We looked around, didn’t unpack and left. I felt sorry for the guy on reception, who was very polite when we checked in. He just said sorry when I gave him the key back.

Where do I start………general manager was a nice man. Tv worked. We were desperate for somewhere for a room at late notice. We got what we paid for, not our usual standard of room. Banging doors in the night. The taps in the rooms made a racket. What looked the inside contents of people’s nasal passages on walls. I was afraid of what might find if I looked harder. We just wanted to go to sleep so we got to morning and check out. Well and truly taught a lesson.

I recently drove over two hours for what I hoped would be a relaxing Easter break with my young child. On arrival, the hotel felt eerily quiet, with only a few cars in the car park. Several men were hanging around the grounds, and a minibus arrived shortly after with more individuals. While the entrance to the hotel looked grand, the room itself was very disappointing. Something didn’t feel right, especially as a mum travelling alone with my young child, so I made the decision to leave. Later research revealed posts—some from the hotel itself—suggesting it offers accommodation as part of a community support program. I fully support the need to help vulnerable people, but I also believe guests should be made aware of this at the time of booking. When I asked directly, the hotel denied this, which only added to my concerns. Unfortunately, the company refused to refund my stay, despite us not staying. I feel very let down by the whole ordeal.

This venue is currently being used to house individuals on early release from prison, some of these people are very dangerous individuals. You see them hanging around in large groups of males, which is intimidating as a lone female. They walk around the place vaping with no respect whatsoever.

Unlike the previous reviews our room was clean and no sign of damp. BUT, the most important thing is the BED , even spreading the two towels over the mattress I could still feel every large spring, spotless bedlinen did not make up for my night of discomfort. On the plus staff were friendly and breakfast was good.

A lovely and grand hotel surrounded by beautiful grounds. The staff were really friendly, the room was spotless and the bed was proper comfy too. They have rooms that are dog friendly in one section, the breakfast was superb and we’ll definitely be back.

Well what a disgusting hotel, room stank of Mold and exotic tobacco, sheets stained, towels smelt absolutely vile, carpet was stained and hairs everywhere, ***** hairs in bath quite a lot, room so small , spoke to reception and she said the room was fine, well it shows how clean she is, lay on top of bed till midnight then slept in my car, you have been warned

Please believe other reviews when they say not to book...... no staff on arrival so I rang bell to alert them. The lady who came was polite, however only spoke a few words to me as she handed the key over - not a typical hotel welcome. The room was awful - rust on bathroom fittings, shabby decor, dust on windowsills and small holes in the wall. My teens found it hilarious that it was soooooo bad. The fire door along the corridor from us was wedged open with a log so I didn't feel safe - anyone could have entered the building. There were a few random men around outside smoking. Very glad we were only there a night to break up a long journey. Noone on desk when I checked out so I had to dump the keys on the side and hope for the best.

Do not be fooled by the beautiful grounds. This place has not been renovated and shows no signs of being renovated. The halls stink of smoke due to guests using the hallway fire exits to have a cigarette. The interior is dirty and smells very old. When returning at 11pm we found ourself locked out, we called the number on the window but no answer. We were able to enter via a fire exit that had been left open. There are a lot of questionable men staying here which made me feel very uneasy. Luckily I was with my partner but I would not recommend females staying here alone. This hotel has so much potential, its a shame it has not been taken care of.
