Masseria San Giovanni - Epoca Collection

We had an incredible stay at this property. The staff are incredibly attentive and kind and no ask is too much. The pool area is perfect and relaxing and the breakfast is a great local spread. Couldn’t recommend it more.

The masseria's venue is to die for and the staff is incredible. If you ever have the chance. This is a must see!

Nice place, specially due to the team. Pasqua and Antonio (sorry, not 100% sure it was his name, the security guy that slept there) were simply amazing. Also Veronica and Noemi were super kind, professional and always helpful.

Based on the website and Trip Advisor pictures I was looking forward to the experience, however, when we checked in our room looked nothing like any of the pictures I'd seen online. It was tiny, with a ceiling that curved so that my 6'2 husband could only stand in the very center of the room. The bathroom and shower were both pushed under the curving sections, making for an extremely claustrophobic experience, and the shower door didn't seal, so that after showering water had seeped all over the small room. My husband went to the front desk to explain this issue and ask if they had another room we could switch to--they handed him some spare pool towels and that was the extent of the customer care we got. At this point it was late at night and we decided to stay for the evening but check out the next day, as there were many nearby spots to stay, and asked at the front desk for them to please charge us for the one night we were there but not the next one. They said since we'd prepaid both nights they would charge us for both, even though the room was clearly nothing like we'd been lead to believe. I've stayed in a whole bunch of hostels and one star hotels all over the world, so I'm pretty tolerant of the hiccups that can happen when traveling, but I've never been so surprised at the discrepancy between what was advertised and what was actually there, followed by such poor customer care. I think this business is only surviving because the region is beautiful and their website is so excellent. Two stars because while tiny the pool was fun, the breakfast was tasty (super slow but that's southern Italy for you!), and our friends who didn't get stuck with tiny annex rooms had a much nicer experience.

I wrote in my *********** review that this property had fine facilities and a good location, but was not as nice as other masserias we stayed at in the area for the same price point. Also, I noted that the pool was small and did not have many lounge chairs. This review seems to have upset the same person who sent us a WhatsApp message when we left asking us to leave a 10/10 review (which we found tacky), who went to the trouble of responding to my review to argue that (1) we only stayed for one night and (2) they allowed additional guests who were not preregistered to stay in the room. Those factors do nothing to change the fact that we did not find this to be a good value stay, or that the pool area felt small to us. While those structural items can’t be fixed, surely someone better can be assigned to interact with traveler reviews.

Location elegante, storica e immersa nella natura, stupenda. Camera e bagno ampi e moderni. Pulizia ottimale. Piscina usufruibile. Staff gentile e disponibile. Colazione buona ma non molto varia nel dolce e sopratutto nel salato. Prezzi alti.
