The goose down comforter on the queen size bed is very comfortable but I bet you'd rather be outside enjoying Alaska in its finest. A large comfortable sofa enables this property to accommodate 3 guests. If desired, renters may have access to traditional native parkas, furs, hats, and more for photos to remember your time at Birchwood Suite. A short 14 miles west of Fairbanks allows full views of the Northern Lights. During the summer, we are a short 10 minute drive to the top of Murphy Dome. Come enjoy all that Birchwood Suite has to offer.There is no public transportation to this location. We are 20 minutes from the airport, 15 minutes from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and 25 minutes from downtown Fairbanks. Uber and taxi service is available in Fairbanks however, they are expensive and may be inconvenient. A rental car is the best choice when staying with us. Full bathroom with deep soaking tub and complimentary toiletries. The tub is jetted, but they do not work properly. The private attached garage is being used for laundry option and a game room with a pool table and dart board. Outside on the porch there is a propane firepit, grill, and patio furniture. There is a fully-fenced-in yard; a privacy fence out front and one dividing the yard in the back with wire fencing encasing the rest of the yard.If you are bringing a dog with you we encourage our guests to still keep an eye on them since the wire fence is not the most sturdy. Enquire about renting a vehicle.The spaceThis space is uniquely located on Chena Marina in a residential area with gravel roads, where many of the local small plane pilots live and fly their planes from the float pond and airstrip. Many of the houses incorporate hangars. Having said that, the area is quiet. It is located upstairs and inside a family owned business where Alaska Airlink Shuttle and Tours operates. There are many buses and vans parked here, this is a tour business. The host also lives here. There are solid double doors that are locked between the unit and the host’s home. There is the possibility that one can hear household noises between units. There are no windows in the apartment. Only the booking party is allowed on the property and in the apartment, and the Arctic entry which is just inside the entryway to the apartment.Other things to noteThe guest house is located on the second floor. You must climb the stairs from the artic entry to access the appt. This cozy fully furnished apartment is located on the ground floor of our log home. Located on three acres just 15 minutes from downtown Fairbanks.The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, utensils, pots and pans, basic spices (and if you need a spice and I have it in my pantry, I will gladly share!), Keurig coffee pot with a starter supply of coffee pods and teas.The bathroom has a good-sized shower and we keep a supply of body wash, shampoo and conditioner on hand. Leave your hair dryer at home -- there's one in the unit!One bedroom has two twin beds and the second has a queen bed. All have comfortable bedding - all of which are washed after each reservation using ALL Free and Clear detergent and Lysol laundry sanitizer. The washer/dryer unit is located in the mechanical room just off the kitchen and an initial supply of detergent and dryer sheets is kept on hand.The property has lots of birch and aspen trees, a few spruce, lawns and flower beds, corrals and barn. During the winter months and the northern lights are dancing in the sky above, you just have to step out the door to take in this amazing phenomenon. There are no street or city lights to prevent a good viewing.If you're visiting us during the winter months, we highly suggest you rent an all-wheel drive vehicle with good tires that is winterized for our Fairbanks winters.
