I really liked the place and the common areas. The lodge is a bit pricey for what it offers. I unfortunately had a terrible experience with the owner, who started screaming at me one evening for a delayed payment, asking me to leave the accommodation immediately.

We had the absolutely best trip. The team at Aganoa looked after us extremely well and we were luckily with good weather and great surf. The manager (Liahona) went out of his way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Lee (the surf and tour guide) was amazing. Yes the facilities are a bit run down and it is possibly a bit expensive but my advice is adjust your expectations before you arrive. Don’t expect a 5 star resort and enjoy the most beautiful spot in Samoa (in my opinion) and you will have a great time. Our kids (6 and 9 years old) didn’t want to leave. We swam, surfed and snorkelled every day and saw turtles every time we got in the water. I think it would help if the Pegasus website didn’t still advertise the spot because they don’t run it anymore. It is locally run and is quite different to how it is advertised on their website, so this causes people to have overinflated expectations of what they are going to get. We will definitely be coming back!

Staying at Aganoa Beach Fales was a disappointing experience. The establishment is run down and appears it has not been maintained in the past few years. They advertise surfing, fishing and snorkelling however they had no equipment available to hire. They advertise a local surf guide and surf tours, however these were not available either. The food was below average, being served tinned spaghetti for dinner one night, breakfast was stale bread or basic cereal with no fruit available. There was no soap or shampoo provided. Lights and doors were broken in the rooms and we went for one day with no water. The view and beach and beautiful, however for $500AUD per couple per night, it was very underwhelming.
