Beautiful hotel, but the food experience was dreadful. Duck was served cold with burnt garnish, cauliflower arrived charred beyond recognition—less “chargrilled,” more cremated. Ordered a gin and tonic, got gin and soda water. No manager on duty, no one to address the issues. Front-of-house staff were doing their absolute best, and I genuinely felt for them. They were let down by a kitchen that seemed to be on autopilot and a management team that had clearly clocked off. For the price and promise of the place, this was far below expectations. Room was excellent—easily the highlight of the stay—but the overall experience left a bitter taste, and not just from the burnt veg. A beautiful hotel deserves better leadership and better food. Right now, it’s style over substance.
