Hotel Rural Sant Joan de Binissaida

Saint Joan de Binissaida is a lovely agriturismo just outside Mahon. We booked the Wagner suite with its large terrace overlooking the glorious countryside and hoped for a warm, relaxed few days. But this notion was shattered when we saw the building works immediately opposite, which we had not been advised of, even upon check-in. A large crane arrived on the first morning and there was loud, constant noise all day, not just from the works, but from the builders themselves shouting amongst each other. It was truly awful, and very stressful. Thankfully, the third day was a public holiday and so we managed to have just one enjoyable, relaxing day. As for the restaurant, again, a beautiful setting. But for the first 2 nights many items on the menu were not available, apparently ‘as it is the end of the season’ - yet miraculously, there was a fuller menu available on our last night?! BIzarre! The rice dish with squid and prawns at Euros50 was absurd - there were just 2 or 3 prawn heads in it, no actual prawns (!)and it was so salty we could not even eat it! One evening we had to wait 40 minutes to get a cocktail at the poolside bar as the bar person was late for her shift..….. Most of the staff were very charming and helpful, but overall the whole experience was disappointing and amateurish. For the sake of one week (which it turns out it was), it seemed crazy that the hotel could not have liaised with their neighbours and agreed to start the building works once the hotel had closed. All of the above was relayed to the hotel staff at the time. It is such a shame that what could have been a magical break, turned out to be the complete opposite.

Hotel maravilloso , en un entorno increíble, con todos los ingredientes para poder hacer una autentica desconexión. La habitación super espaciosa desde donde se podía ver el mar junto con el primer amanecer de España, el hotel dispone a su alrededor de una finca maravillosa donde producen su propio aceite, junto con una pequeña granja. El desayuno de primera calidad, con productos menorquines, aunque si que nos falto algo de variedad para las cinco noches que pasamos. Así que el unico pero, fue el tiempo, el cual no nos acompaño esos días por lo demás una maravilla de hotel.

Excellent moment en famille. Il est rare de se trouver en un lieu aussi apaisant entouré d’une équipe toujours agréable. Toute l’équipe. Un grand merci pour cet accueil. Mention spéciale pour la cuisine dont les plats sont eux aussi à la hauteur du lieu.

No vayais tarde al restaurante porque no es lo mismo. Habíamos ido varias veces pero esta vez al ir a última hora todo cambió. Para empezar, no nos trajeron el pan con aceite tan bueno que hacen allí, nos dijeron que uno de los segundos que queríamos no lo tenían, los entrantes vinieron a medio hacer: la berenjena con burrata en vez de ser una berenjena grande con un poquito de burrata como ha sido siempre (y sigue siendo porque así lo vi en Instagram hace 15 días) vino como un plato lleno de mozarella y 4 mini trocitos de berenjena; y los cogollos a la brasa con queso de mahon vinieron sin brasa ni queso, directos de la nevera con la salsa y 4 tomatitos. No puedo entender que cojan reservas tarde si la calidad de los platos baja tanto; o no se coge la reserva o al menos te disculpas cuando te lo comentan, que a nosotros nos dijeron que ahora los platos eran así... Cosa que espero que sinceramente no sea asi porque entonces no volveremos más. De hecho, con esta experiencia nos costará volver, y mira que íbamos mucho.
