Hotel Coral Beach by Mij

This is the worse hotel that I’ve been to and I’ve been going away for 35 years, 3 times a year. It should only have one star not three. Check in took a few hours as there wasn’t any proper queue system and existing guest thought they were privileged as they were allowed to go to the front of the queue by one of the staff members. The staff allowed bad behaviour by certain guests who were getting drunk from morning to night, shouting and swearing constantly even though there were small children around. The pool area had their own speakers, but guests were allowed to take their own music systems / large speakers and play very loud music. It was like the staff / management were scared to ask guest to be respectable and if they wanted to play their music, either go to the beach or use headphones. I saw a lady go and ask reception, if they would ask for the music be turned down and she ended up going away tearful as they told her the guest were allowed to do what they wanted to as it were their holiday too. There were so many broken sun loungers around the pool and a really bad sewerage smell from the pool drainage channel. Honestly the hotel could do with a revamp. Drinks were very basic and the choice very limited. Food choice was very basic and if you went 1 hour before it closed, then when you asked for basic things, like fresh cheese etc you were told no more was available.

We travelled as a family to the coral beach. We didn’t expect too much as we knew it was a three star hotel, and we paid an amount of money which I would regard as average for a three star hotel. Upon arrival, we were met by friendly receptionists. We had a speedy check-in and we were given our own keys after paying a small tax. The rooms are ample but very basic. There is no kettle, no fridge and no tea or coffee making facilities. The grab rail which is next to the bath is located in such a position that you cannot sit upright in the bath as it obstructs you. The balcony was big enough for two people. The room was cleaned dearly. The air conditioning sometimes got very cold. You must have the entrance door on the patio door closed for the air conditioning to work. As it is an all inclusive resort we expected what we got. Unlimited local drinks, not branded. San Miguel on draft is absolutely brilliant, the soft drinks being branded, Coca-Cola, sprite, Fanta etcetera. The food was very average. Good selection for breakfast, albeit the bacon was poor. More toasters are needed. For lunch you had a good selection but nothing to write home about. Dinner there are plenty of salads rice, cold meats and cheese. There is always pasta. There is always chips but we did find a distinct lack of tasty, quality main course the theme nights overall we regarded as power. Nothing had any great taste though (apart from the curry on the Indian themed night) I can still taste the salt. Really horrible! Marki who runs the snack bar throughout the day is a great guy, the food however is not so great. Tasteless burgers with no texture! The entertainment was not great. However, you cannot knock the staff for trying. The room where the entertainment takes place could really do with air-conditioning as it gets uncomfortably hot. The swimming pool really could do with a full refurbishment, it is big enough but needs an overhaul. There is a lifeguard on duty and he is brilliant. The trees provide shade but the polythene which has blown into them looks dreadful. The foliage goes everywhere when it gets breezy. There should be a sign or two discouraging people from feeding the birds as they come in fast and low. The bar staff are absolutely excellent. They cater for you relentlessly. They absolutely work their socks off. I would like to pay a special mention to Juan who is an absolute diamond, a real character who is always smiling, always laughing, always pleasant, always polite and goes the extra mile to make sure that you enjoy your holiday. The bar staff are a real credit to the hotel. Everyone at the hotel tries their best. Overall Verdict is a good 3* hotel and I would pay more to return if the food was better. 2 weeks would be too long.

This hotel is perfect for a three star, the staff can’t do enough for you, the food is lovely even if you are fussy you will find something you like. perfect positioning next to the beach, i would definitely come back. The maids work so hard and the rooms are always lovely and clean. Even if you arrive there in the middle of the night you can get snacks and drinks from the restaurant. The only problem i had was being told by one staff member that i can’t fill my water bottle up in the restaurant and i should buy it from their vending machine which is probably fair enough if there is a shortage of water on the island.

This hotel was awful. Great location and resort but DO NOT stay in this hotel. Arrived early June 26 degrees and no air conditioning. When enquired about it (within 30 minutes of arriving) was told to shut the patio door which I already had. Then I was told it was broken so presumed it would be fixed within 24 hours. No apology and no air con for the whole week. That’s not only in my room (which I’d paid extra to upgrade to a superior room with air con) staff rude and couldn’t care less if guests were happy or not. No air con in the “restaurant” well basic room with table and chairs. Salad was warm and lettuce slimy and translucent I think it was the same lettuce that was put out all week. Meat tough, poor quality I wouldn’t feed it to my dog. Put a complaint in to TUI and they said they hadn’t had any complaints (IMPOSSIBLE as everyone I spoke to wasn’t happy) I’d been to reception numerous times but the TUI representative told me the hotel (hostel) had reached all its TARGETS!!! I asked exactly what do you mean ‘targets’ ??? Couldn’t explain but if they have targets to achieve obviously they are not going to report complaints. Lovely resort just stay in another hotel.

The hotel is a great 3 star. Clean, fantastic staff and a fabulous location. I have celiac disease and therefore need a gluten free diet. Nothing was too much trouble, especially from the young lad who did the fresh cooking. Es Cana is a beautiful area. Unspoilt, fabulous views and fantastic beaches.

I came here in May when they had only been open a few days. I was with friends ranging from 26-59 and every one of us had a lovely time. Negatives - slow check in process, however it seemed Tui had really pushed some good deals and so everyone was arriving from the same flights. Aircon not very good. Positives - Clean and comfortable rooms. More than enough sun beds to go round. San Miguel on all inclusive and a good choice of cocktails. Staff all hard working. Plenty food choices even the vegan among us found plenty variety. Nice area with plenty restaurants and bars close by. Regular bus service to other parts of the island.

Having read some of the reviews since the hotel reopened in May I was a bit concerned that this might be the first bad Tui holiday we’ve had but everything was fine. Even the weather was great all week. Great location, short walk to beach and cafes, shops etc. We stayed all inclusive and felt we got our moneys worth. Some of the bar men were over generous with the spirits and the drinks were really too strong for me so I had to tell them I only wanted a small amount. We stayed on 1st floor overlooking pool and the room was always cleaned for us with fresh towels etc. The food was plentiful but a bit “samey”. Chinese night was the best with spring rolls, sweet and sour, prawn crackers etc. the fruit juices and breakfasts were fine. Cornettos, lollies and poolside snacks were much appreciated. Our only negatives were NOT down to the hotel but to parents who allowed their kids to run in the busy restaurant which was very dangerous with people carrying hot food and drinks and also jumping and diving in the pool over adults heads when signs said no jumping or diving. The toddler pool seemed well used by little ones. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Ute on reception. The Tui Rep was sweet too and didn’t mind that we didn’t book excursions through her which some Reps don’t like. Thank you to all the staff!

This hotel is in a brilliant location near 2 beaches within walking distance and afew bars and shops easy to get too. The hotel is clean and tidy inside and out. Food was ok things for everyone to eat. The staff are really nice the check in was quite long and needed to pay room tax which we didn't know about before qe arrived. All in all good hotel for a week
