Hotel Mision Santa Maria

I have travelled a lot around Baja and this is one of my favorite hotels. Its location is incredible as the sole frontage on a miles long white sandy Pacific beach. Every room looks straight at the beach (no extra 'ocean view' charges here!) and the hotel is large and airy. Rooms are clean and maintenance is good. Water is clean and the hotel has its own bar, gym and restaurant. Sunday breakfast buffet is not to be missed. For dinner we headed out to town (San Quintin) and I can recommend Eucalipto Restaurant which is nearby. All in all this hotel is GREAT VALUE and a real hidden gem from the hordes that crowd into Cabo. Highly recommend.

Dream vacation awaits. We've been to this resort, with a beach all its own, far from the crazy world, numerous times. When the kids were younger, they could dig clams on an otherwise empty beach, bring them to the friendly (and talented) chefs and have the catch cooked and dressed up while we waited. It's a marvel that there is such a tranquil spot still remaining in the Americas. We recommend the delicious tomato dishes. All produce is picked the day of. And the seafood is just as fresh. The prices are such a bargain, and everyone there is happy and friendly (which is fortunately very contagious). We definitely found the "refresh button" here!

Location: A few miles off Hwy 1 on well-paved roads, right on the beach. Excellent distance from Tecate or from Catavina/Guerrero *****, makes for reasonable travel day duration. Facility: Rooms are on 3 levels with shallow staircases connecting them. There is a ramp to one wing for WC access. Most rooms exit to outdoor corridors. The facility is clean, new paint and window installations. Room: Excellent mattresses. This hotel had heat, a rarity in the Baja in our experience but very welcome in January, as well as air conditioning. Pillows are synthetic but not too bad, but you should bring your own if you are fussy - there's no pillow bar here. Plenty of space in the room, adequate electrical outlets but none near the head of the bed, we couldn't use our electronics while charging. Bathroom layout for shower entrance is a bit tight (see photo) but the blue ceramic bathroom fixtures make up for that, I'm just crazy about them. Getting extra towels wasn't a problem. Wi-Fi came with our room, signal strength isn't impressive but we could all text and read emails. Plenty of hot water.

Beautiful property. Extensive remodeling since the 1970’s when it was one of the El Presidente Hotels!! Lots of colorful history! Well appointed rooms with comfortable beds. Restaurant was very well done. Keep in mind, this property is very remote! Large menu with some unique options. At $70.00 USD you can’t go wrong!!!
