We chose this Guest House as it was great to park and walk into town. BUT I should have believed the bad reviews! The reception area was scruffy and stank of old smoke (despite No Smoking signs) There were papers on the counter with very personal details on them, so no privacy (although no proper check-in, just a key- fob that said breakfast was NOT included -5 emails said it was). When we asked we got a very dismissive reply from the lady who turned her back on us, walked away very quickly and muttered something about sorting it out in the morning. She led us up 2 flights to a scruffy attic room, despite e mail saying 'ground floor' (a random child had also been included in the price.) When we got back from our meeting at 9.15 pm everywhere was locked up, including the bar and no lights on anywhere. We decided to leave, as it was so depressing and didn't feel safe. I wonder if a fire-officer has checked recently? A display said it had AA 5* ????? Our photos tell a different story....

Wow, what an amazing day. So lucky to have been able to have our Wedding hosted by Poets House. We couldn’t have asked for more. Christine, Sara and all the team were fabulous. The service we received from all the staff was friendly, informative and helpful. At no point did it feel like it was too much trouble. The food was delicious, a number of our guests commented that it was the best wedding meal they have ever had. We cannot thank Poets House for helping to make our day the best. This visit could not have been better. The Staff were welcoming and helpful, the rooms newly refurbished and the food and service were excellent. We had a need for a disability room and I could cheerfully have spent a day in the wet room of room 33. The shower and facilities were magnificent. One final touch, reception arranged for a mobility scooter to be made available to me. This was carefully looked after both before and during my visit making it possible for me to enjoy all the beauty of the disabled friendly city of Ely. A truly memorable weekend.

This has to be one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at in many a year. We arrived 2 hours early and were given key to the room and a very nice young lady showed us the way and explained the facilities. The evening meals were excellent, portions very good and excellent quality food and drink, the lad who served us was pleasant and always smiling. Lovely nights sleep was followed by a super english breakfast and real coffee. What a way to finish the stay. We had a walk around the grounds and it is plain to see the grounds have been lovingly tendered with great furniture etc. We will be back.

Dieses Zimmer muss nach drei Uhr nachmittags bleiben, aber es ist vorzeitig zu bestellen, dass das Gepäck gespeichert werden kann. Das Personal ist sehr enthusiastisch, das Haus ist sauber und sehr großzügig und ein typisches englisches Zimmer. Die Umgebung ist wirklich so wunderschön und es lohnt sich, einen Tag langsam zu verbringen. Es ist erwähnenswert, Frühstückskoffee ist sehr gut zu trinken, Miss Schwester ist wirklich gut! Das einzige, was unzufrieden ist, ist, dass Trip.com-Personal die Nachrichten nicht vollständig übersandt, was uns dazu führt, lange Zeit draußen zu warten, und die Geschäfte sind auch beunruhigt, und es muss die Nachricht künstlich überprüft und öffnet.
