Elounda Akti Olous (Adults Only)

We stayed here for first time this year. It was amazing. Lovely room with side sea view. Really good breakfast. Staff so helpful and friendly. The Blue Sky Restuarant served amazing food with great staff. A short walk to many bars restuarants. Walk across the road to a small private beach also has roof top pool with sky bar. The bar serves snacks, drinks and icecream again staff so helpful and friendly. We booked for next year while we were there. I cant reccomend enough.

Our 2 weeks at Akti Olous were fantastic. Superb hotel, meticulously clean, friendly professional staff and excellent location. Plenty of choice at breakfast which we ate each morning by the sea. The best place we have stayed in Greece. The hotels location is perfect, with beaches and a huge range of restaurants and tavernas in walking distance. A great base to explore the wider area. Spinalonga, Plaka and Agios Nikoloas definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful hotel in a lovely, quiet part of Elounda. The rooms were spotlessly clean, though we endured a faulty air-con system in our room for the first 2 nights. Eventually we were able to change rooms, having complained twice and being told it was fixed when it wasn’t. The choice of food was very good, though we found it quite pricey. Service was very good though the head waiter was quite overbearing at times, and preferential seating was given to those who had not pre-booked full board. The very small, pebbly beach was lovely but always crowded and the sunbeds were covered with towels by breakfast-time, as were the beds by the rooftop pool on the 4th floor, in spite of notices requesting guests not to do so. The roof top bar was fantastic, with stunning views across to Spinalonga and the bay. The waiting staff worked very hard to please the clientele. All in all, a very nice hotel; just a pity the transfer to the hotel took 2 1/2hrs and we finally arrived at around 1am.

If your budget allows ask for a full seaview room. Was informed no superior or seaview when I booked. personally found the rooms small. Room 107 in main building. Tiny balcony looking onto a shed and growing weeds. Air conditioning unit very near the room which is a constant noise irritant. There are trees and shrubs further up the building which are pretty. Tiniest balcony ever seen in a hotel. Pros. Very clean hotel with excellent staff almost without exception. Breakfast adequate choices with excellent fresh orange juice. Dine in or out, great to dine out but means backwards and forwards to breakfast room dodging the traffic. Bedrooms. Fail to understand the design of the rooms. 1 bedside table each side, see no reason why more than 1 draw could not of been added to give more storage options. Wardrobe hanging space fine. Free safe Free air con, for me personally this was soo noisy, I personally need a very dark room and silence to be able to sleep so could not wait to leave to finally have a good sleep. OH was able to sleep with the noise of AC so will suit some people. Could not understand why there is a chair positioned staring at a blank wall then the fridge is under a large mirror. If you moved the chair in front of fridge to use the mirror totally impractical. Swop these round and you could easily fit in a set of drawers also. Biggest problem for me personally and did not help with sleep they have a box at side of door where you can switch it to clean or do not clean the room, this shows on the outside so the cleaners are aware, in theory an excellent system. However from the inside of the room it was like having a torch on all night and was too light. My switch would not work, took to informing reception if room did not need cleaning, spoke to them 3 times about this but not fixed. Pool rooftop, very small space and sun beds literally touching each other a little too intimate for my liking, if your neighbours put up there sun umbrella this also effected your tiny space. Indoor/outdoor seating areas very good and excellent staff day and night. Restaurant on jetty. Booked B&B as always like to support a local economy and dine out on an evening. Had lunch a couple of times and all fine. Did notice the head waiter or manager of this area is always trying to attract passers by or passing drivers to stop and dine. I booked the restaurant for a meal on our last night and given a table at beginning of the restaurant in an exceptional windy position and was seated to be told not asked “half board “ and went to get a menu, I then informed him no B&B ( considering we had not been in there for 8 nights not very observant) on being told this and we had reserved a table we immediately got offered another table which was n a much nicer position and given a different menu , this made me wonder how those on half board feel as it was clear they are not afforded the same treatment as paying diners on an evening. This was our first jet2 holiday and I was a bit hesitant when we arrived at 1am and was directed to an alleyway towards the hotel. However I can’t fault our holiday, the room was fantastic and kept spotlessly clean, the breakfast food was lovely and plenty of choice, the hotel is in a fantastic location, just a short walk from the harbour, lots of fabulous restaurants all along the road and the seafront. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel as there was so much choice in Elounda but we enjoyed the beach and the pool area, I’m not a fan of sitting around swimming pools so it was great to have the sky bar to sit and read quietly whilst my husband enjoyed a swim. The staff were so welcoming and the bar staff were lovely, Popi in particular is a lovely lady. We were so happy with the hotel that on our second day we booked to return next year. If you enjoy a quite peaceful relaxing holiday this hotel is perfect.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, all the staff work extremely hard. However, being dropped off at the roadside at 1am and having to walk down the dark but pretty tree-lined alleyway to reception was quite tricky with the suitcases; this would be no good for anyone who was at all infirm. Unfortunately the air-con in our room on the 3rd floor was faulty, but too late to do anything about it on the first night. It was blowing hot air. Unbearably hot, and impossible to sleep. The room was quite cramped too, with not much storage space and not much room to move about. I spoke to reception the next day, and they sent an engineer, apparently. We were told later that he had fixed the fault with the air-con. We returned that night to find it was just the same, still unbearably hot, accentuated by the heat of the afternoon sun blazing into the room, even with both sets of curtains closed. The next morning, I spoke to reception again, insisting that it had not been fixed. Later that day, we were given a room on the 1st floor, which was much more spacious, and the air-con worked properly. We were so relieved. We ate at the Blue Sea restaurant several times; the food was fantastic, and service mostly very good, though the head waiter was quite overbearing and moody at times. The rest of the waiting staff were lovely and friendly. For those who had opted for full -board, they were not offered a dinner table on the jetty, in the prettiest part of the restaurant, but seated by the roadside instead. It appeared to be designated, however, for those paying separately for the à la carte menu. The hotel was beautiful, clean and quiet, in an excellent location by a very small pebbly beach. However, the sunbeds on the beach and by the pool became occupied very quickly each morning - shame most of the people religiously put their towels out before going to breakfast - the signs advising against doing this were pointless and completely ignored. We had a lovely time in Elounda and went sightseeing on several days, though found it very expensive. A lovely holiday overall, in spite of a few drawbacks.

Arrived very late in the evening as had 1 hour delay, Spiros made us a toastie & had 2 beers which were very welcome thank you again. Clean lovely hotel on the sea front, fantastic views. Lovely room which was cleaned, sheets & towels changed every. Bathroom fab apart from the shower head which didn't have a very good water flow, other than that fantastic. Breakfast was good but not a lot of fresh fruit. Lift available to all 4 floors which includes the sky bar. 15-20 minute walk to the beach, supermarkets & restaurants. Staff very friendly. Spiros in the sky bar made my day with his smile & welcome. Will certainly be visiting again hopefully in the not too distant future 🌞

Had a fabulous week at the Akti Olous. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the main square and plenty of lovely bars and tavernas close by. We chose a garden room as this was the best deal available for a cheap holiday. Our room was in the annexe so down the alleyway by the side of the hotel and on the ground floor. When we arrived the night manager explained the rooms have had a big renovation and this was obvious, the room was lovely and the shower the best I’ve ever had in Greece. Everything was included which made the stay good value. There was no extra charge for air con or the safe in the room. Some basic toiletries were included, slippers and a hairdryer. There was a small fridge and kettle. We didn’t bother with the tv but it did have one English channel. The balcony overlooked lots of olive trees and was a real suntrap later in the day. As others have said there’s minimal storage in the room but that didn’t bother us at all. The room was kept immaculate and we received fresh towels every day - amazing! Our only tiny criticism was that we were woken up at 8am most mornings by some Greek ladies (the cleaners maybe?) shouting to each other and slamming doors, it lasted about 5 minutes. Breakfast was fabulous, there was lots of choice and so you could vary what you had. We particularly liked the pies and cakes and the fresh orange machine! It was lovely to take breakfast outside and sit by the sea. Breakfast set us up nicely for the day so we could skip lunch and then save ourselves for a big evening meal! We used the beach and the rooftop pool during our stay and usually found it easy to get a bed if we went down early. Again this is a real bonus over spending money on sun loungers. The pool was our favourite with beautiful views over the pay. It was very peaceful being an adult only hotel. Note that the pool is one depth and you can’t stand up in it. There are signs up about not reserving beds but this doesn’t seem to be being monitored early in the season. Staff were helpful throughout our stay without being pushy. They met all requests such as providing an iron. The staff in the sky bar work really hard and make great drinks! When we left we had an evening flight so enquired about keeping the room in. The charge would have been 30 euros until 3pm or 60 euros until 6pm. They couldn’t confirm availability so we decided to use the courtesy room instead for no charge. We were pleasantly surprised by this as they just gave us the key to an unused (and not refurbished) room at the back of the hotel where we could shower and change, we just had to bring the towels from our original room with us. Have stayed in Elounda several times and the Akti Olous has definitely been my favourite accommodation so far. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again and definitely recommend it!
