I stayed at the Lodge a couple of years ago (in July 2021) and I thought that it was really delightful. I gave it five stars. For this trip there were no rooms available in the Lodge, so I stayed at the Couture Farm. I can't recommend it. The room was generally acceptable for a B and B, although three of the five lights, including the two on either side of the bed, didn't work. To anticipate Management's response that “You should have told us”, I respond: “One lamp maybe, but for three out of five? You should have known.” The bathroom, wedged into what was probably once a closet, was tiny but functional, much like the bathrooms at a Red Roof Inn. But the room wasn't really my problem. The Farmhouse itself was fairly unpleasant: dark and crowded with tired old furniture, and permeated with a pervasive, musty smell. Worse, there was a powerful odor of cat litter that had not been changed in far too long. The front porch was scattered with enough junk to make me wonder if I was at the right place when I arrived. The spider that I brushed off of my neck while I was sitting on one of the sofas didn't improve my mood, but it wasn't really the issue. It was the smell. I almost never give a place a one-star rating, but the pervasive, omnipresent stink of cat urine dragged this location from a two or maybe a three down to a one in my estimation. I have had cats before (note my picture on TripAdvisor...), but my house never smelled like this. This was special. On the plus side, it was quiet and the internet service was excellent. But if you are going to stay at Millstone Hill and you can't stay at the Barn/Lodge, give the place a miss. As for me, I won't go back.
