Duvauchelle Seaside Motel

Joined hubby on a work trip..3 nights at the motel.we cooked 2 of the nights in the unit ..the motel owners loant us a pot and frying pan. Beds comfy shower hot totally recommend and the pubs next door with a great restaurant

We spent a few nights at the Seaside Motel and had a great stay. The location is excellent, right across the road from the bay, with great harbor views from the rooms. And you don’t have to go far for a hearty meal, as the Duchauvelle Hotel/Restaurant is right next door. The room was bright and airy with great views. All the furnishings were comfortable and we had a very restful sleep. The kitchenette was well outfitted and we ate all of our breakfasts there. The heating was just barely enough to keep the room at 16-18C, but we were there during a winter cold/wet snap. The internet wasn’t really working while we were there so we made do with our mobile connections. Overall we had a great stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to other travelers.

It might seem out of the way but its 10 minutes to centre of Akaroa and central to many of the stunning beaches on the Peninsular. We were there NYE. Despite being next to the pub and meters from the main road it was quiet. No noise between units. The units were modern, clean, airy with a magnificent views across the bay even down stairs. They allow pets. However there wasnt a trace, or a smell of any previos animals. First class beds. Amung the best we have experienced. Super friendly, but not OTT, hosts. Great place for a couple of night. Highly reccomend

The property is about a 10 min drive to the township of Akaroa. There was a pub that served meals next door as well as a General Store less than a 5 min walk. The owners were very generous in loaning us an electric fry pan which was really useful for our breakfasts during our 5 nights stay. We had previously been to Akaroa and loved the Banks peninsula area and wanted a relaxing stay which this property provided. All units/rooms have uninterrupted views of the hills and seaside bay of Duchauville which is very peaceful and relaxing to return "home" to. Each morning we enjoyed walking around the bay which we probably would not have done if we had stayed in the town centre. The couple who operate the facility were always on-site and were very obliging and pleasant to talk to. For the cost of this facility, we believe it represents outstanding value. We would certainly consider this property on a future return.
