Treasure Beach Art Hotel, Barbados, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort ★★★★

"We have been to Barbados many times before. This time we stayed at the lovely Treasure Beach Art hotel on the west coast. I believe it had around 35 rooms which made it more cosy than the larger hotels. Although we had originally booked to stay at Waves Hotel on Prospect Bay in a ocean front room, just over a mile away from Treasure Beach, we were told within less than 48 hours of leaving, that we couldn’t stay at Waves as they were renovating the building. They offered us Treasure Beach hotel. Although we were extremely disappointed to be told this at very short notice, when found that Treasure Beach hotel was actually very enjoyable. Getting around the island is easy. A few times we went on the buses which are super cheap. We also hired a car from Ballantyne Rentals who we would highly recommend. The food at the hotel was so amazing and healthy. The only bad thing about it was that I put weight because it was so nice (ok, that’s my fault). They did have a gym there, however it was pretty basic. Every single member of staff at the hotel were great and they helped make our holiday even better. A few names I remember are Sophia, Sasha, Shauna, Kerryanne, Sabrina x 2, Raheem, Tiffany and many more. Sorry I can’t remember all of their names, every single one of them was so nice, kind and hard working! The rooms were nice and well cleaned, the receptionists were super helpful, the restaurant, kitchen and bar staff were so efficient, welcoming and genuinely friendly. The pool was lovely and clean every day, with sun beds around it and also on a section facing the beach. Access to the beach was not always easy, so may not be ideal for beach lovers who are disabled. Although there were no sun beds on the beach itself, the hotel is right on the sea so we could go for a swim and then straight back to the pool area. The sea there is amazingly clear and warm. There were a few stones where the waves landed on the shore so if you’re sensitive you may wish to take water shoes there. We visited Waves hotel (where we had originally booked to stay), and they also have access to the beach with sun beds. However to get from the beach to the pool area it meant going through the beach side of the hotel and crossing the road to their other building with the pool area. It’s a bit different. The hotel has well maintained gardens with beautiful trees, plants and some small friendly birds everywhere around making it so relaxing. We went in the rainy season so a few days were pretty wet. Most days however were lovely and warm with occasional short showers. It's definitely worth a stay there!"

"Well - what a fantastic all inclusive place to stay in Barbados! Wir kamen sehr früh, nachdem wir gerade eine Kreuzfahrt auf dem Royal Clipper verlassen (auch fantastisch!), erwarteten wir nur, unsere Taschen wegzuwerfen. Wir haben einen schönen Willkommen erhalten, wir wurden mit einem Glas Zitronensaft hineingestellt und eincheckt. Wir haben uns entschuldigt, dass unser Zimmer nicht bereit war (es war 9.30am!), aber wir waren willkommen, alle Einrichtungen einschließlich Getränke, Mittagessen usw. voll zu nutzen. Bis 11 Uhr wurde unser Zimmer gesagt, war bereit! Was ist der Unterschied zu den britischen Hotels! Das Zimmer war schön - eine Meerblick mit einem wunderschönen komfortablen Balkon, und viel Raum und Lagerung. Das Essen war brillant - eine Menge Wahl, und wenn Sie nicht das, was auf dem Menü war, würden die Mitarbeiter ihr Bestes tun, um etwas geeignetes zu bereiten. Champagne (Piper Heidsieck) Frühstück, schöne leichte Mittagessen und brillante Abendessen. Fast alle Getränke wurden in das All inclusive aufgenommen, so dass wir eine Menge brillante Cocktails und wunderschöner Wein hatten! Die Einrichtungen waren groß - viele Sonnenbäder um die Terrasse, und obwohl der kleine Strand mehr oder weniger weggeworfen wurde, konnten wir uns auf niedrigem Wetter für einen Wandern im Sand hinunter fahren. Das Hotel ist über 3 Etagen - kein Aufzug, aber unsere Fälle wurden für uns alle aufgegriffen, so dass es nicht wirklich wichtig war! Das Personal war alle sehr professionell, aber sehr freundlich - jeder hat uns mit einem Lächeln begrüßt, egal wann oder wo wir waren. Auch auf die Hauskatze Panda, die in echtem Karibik-Stil umher geht! Das Hotel ist klein, so fühlen Sie sich gut aufpasst. Die einzige kleine Nebenwirkung (außer müssen Sie gehen!) war, dass es nur beim Abschiedskontrolle entdeckte wir den QR-Code, der die täglichen Menüs und Aktivitäten aufbrachte - wir feedten zurück zum Empfang, dass sie das an die Gäste-Warnung bringen sollten, wenn sie sich anmelden Das Hotel, die Einrichtungen, die Lage und das Personal konnten wir nicht lücken - wir können nicht warten, bis wir zurückkommen!"

Shades ★★★

"We stayed at Shades all of March 2024. Our fourth time. There isn’t any place better for us. Around here, you would have to pay several times more to get this. The west coast, north from Bridgetown all the way to Speightstown, is where most posh resorts are: Sandy Lane, Colony Club, Coral Reef Club, Glitter Bay, …. Yet, there’s nowhere we’d rather be than Shades at Payne’s Bay. All the others lie along the shore, set up between the ocean and the north-south highway. They are posh, and they have their beaches. But Shades has beauty, quiet, and an intimate scale - 7 apartments in two buildings - and set in its own gardens, with a swimming pool, even a gym, and monkeys and chickens roaming through. It’s not on the beach; instead, it’s 2 minutes from Payne’s Bay beach up Layne’s Road in a Bajan neighbourhood. It’s special, secluded, and authentic."
