I stay at Premier Inn all over the UK 2+ perweek and this is one of my only reviews. On the whole they are what you pay for, some better than others., some breakfasts are really good and others ok but edible. Thirsk was a new PI for me and although the room was ok, I'd have to rate my breakfast as the worst I've ever encountered. The difference between the previous night at Newcastle Washington and Thirsk couldn't have been more stark. NW staff and quality of food was fantastic with poached eggs cooked to perfection. Thirsk had fried and scrambled (didn't dare ask for poached with look of cook) that must have been fried in industrial engine oil 3 weeks earlier such was the look and taste, together with hash browns that looked scrambled (as none were in tact out of cooking), beans dried up hard, sausages almost raw and bacon that was strange to say the least and I'm not even sure what was floating in the apple juice. The tables had broken chairs and had a sticky film on top and the staff looked about as interested as I did in being there. I'm not asking for a 1st class dining experience but some standards have to be met and Thirsk PI really needs to look at itself.
