Balmule House

Where do we even start, myself and now husband came across Balmule when searching for weekend wedding venues. I was drawn to it on more than one occasion, and had to book a viewing and am I so glad we did. From the moment we turned up, even on a December dark night the place was just outstanding. The house itself with being so grand felt cosy and welcoming, Franc showed us around and explained the full wedding weekend transition which sounded seamless, which we soon discovered was exactly that: seamless. We did a tour of the house and all the bedrooms, and honestly the place just gets better and better, the master suite is just incredible, bathroom is bigger than some of the rooms in our own house!!! What really makes Balmule extraordinary is the team. From the moment we booked up they provided us with so much guidance and support, along with recommending multiple different suppliers for our big day. We arrived on the Friday and the team were so welcoming, ensured all our weekend guests where shown there rooms, any small concern from any guest was resolved instantly. The team couldn’t be more attentive and Franc the host is one of the nicest people you could meet. He kept us right and reassured us about so much, he made all our family feel comfortable and ensured our day went as smooth as possible. Both Franc and Charlene went out there way to entertain my nephew during the wedding meal, pulling out Lego and other toys to give my sister five minutes! Balmule holds such a special place in our hearts, and we can’t wait to return one day to experience it all over again.

This is our 4th stay and have already planned our 5th and 6th! Looking forward to trying out the Trout Pond on our next trip. The livestock make the country living a great treat when taking morning and evening walks. The staff are super responsive and very accommodating for our special events that we host on-site!

The most perfect weekend in a beautifully clean well equipped house. The bathrooms are spacious like never seen before. Such a spacious house and beautiful scenery and outdoor space. Cannot rate this house highly enough. Franc was so helpful and obliging

Balmule House was the venue selected by my daughter and son-in-law for their wedding. There are so many fantastic things to say, that it’s a challenge to put them in an order. The house and grounds are beautiful which includes a walled garden, a running stream and waterfall. This was a wedding for 50 guests, and larger weddings are well accommodated with a marquee in the grounds. The house was perfect for our size of wedding with a central area for music and dancing and adjacent rooms for relaxing and comfort and family and guests moved between these throughout the day and night. We used all of the 10 bedrooms which are over two floors - beautiful large rooms with en-suite bathrooms with several that are almost the same size as the room itself. There are also small kitchen areas in each floor too which is very convenient. It was all just perfect for the wedding but it was the owner, Franc, and his team - Colin and Grant, who brought the weekend to beyond perfection. They were an ever-present supportive presence in the background for everything that was needed for us and our guests. From a constant supply of teas and coffees, to providing one guest with a needle and thread, to hanging up a mirror ball when we couldn’t find a place on our stands, they went over and above the call of duty to make sure everything was taken care of, right into the early hours of both evenings, and they appeared to enjoy providing this exceptional level of service. During the day, they demonstrated mastery in changing rooms around - from breakfast room to ceremony room to evening cafe style room, and wedding dinner room, to next day’s breakfast room, they managed this as smoothly as changing sets during a theatre production. On our arrival, they unloaded vehicles, made sure that everything went to the correct rooms, valet parked our vehicles. On our departure morning, nothing was rushed, and they remained exceptionally helpful right up until we left. There was a lot of packing up but Franc and team made sure that we felt we were under no time pressure and were always present to help. For large events, external caterers are required and Seven Events Scotland also did a perfect job. It was their first time in Balmule House and Franc and team worked perfectly with them to deliver a seamless service. Their food and service was excellent, but for our breakfasts and dinner on the set up evening, Grant, who is chef at Balmule, demonstrated his exceptional skills in cooking, presentation and also adapting - due to the storm, a supplier couldn’t deliver a specific ingredient and the adaptation that Grant made, resulted in a dessert that actually exceeded the original! This is one review that I can’t think of too many things to say, but with only one shot at capturing such an important memory as my daughter’s wedding - Franc, Colin and Grant and the setting of Balmule House, made it not only perfect, but also relaxed and stress free. We’re now wondering what other celebrations

Myself and my guests were blown away with this beautiful house. I spent two weekends at Balmule celebrating my 60th birthday with friends and family and we absolutely adored it. We all enjoyed the luxury, space and freedom the house offered. Whilst I enjoyed the master suite some ventured out to the waterfall and others relaxed in the hot tub. And even in November the BBQ was a big hit. Both the lounge and dining room provided ample room for 20 guests. Thanks so much to Franc and ALL the team, I just can't wait to come back soon xx

This house is stunning. We attended as a party of 20 guests. The house comfortably accommodated all of us and still felt spacious. We took advantage of the dry weather and explored the beautiful grounds, the magical garden which is lit at light and creates a wonderful peaceful escape. All the rooms are luxurious and with their own coffee facilities. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. The owner & care taker were attentive and super responsive and nothing was too much trouble. We are booked to come back it’s that good 👌
