Carrickdale Hotel & Spa

We just got back from an amazing stay at the Carrickdale Hotel, We stayed from Tuesday to Friday, two adults and two kids, and honestly, it was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. First off, the location is fantastic—nestled right between the beautiful Mourne mountains. The place is beautiful, clean and well-maintained, and the grounds are just gorgeous. There's a lovely secret garden cafe where we had some of the best pizzas, burgers, and coffee. It's such a cozy spot! Our first night, we ate in the hotel's restaurant, and it was fantastic. Shout out to Caroline, our waitress, who was so friendly and great with our kids. She made us feel right at home and nothing was too much trouble for her. The leisure center was a big hit with all of us. They provide robes and slippers so you can comfortably walk from your room to the pool, and towels are ready for you there. Such nice touches! There's also a mini-golf course and a cute little playground in the garden. Our kids had a blast and were entertained the whole time. On our last day, we tried the food in the bar, and once again, it didn't disappoint. Everything was delicious, and the service was spot on. Prices were very reasonable too, which is always a plus. As someone with coeliac disease, I was thrilled with the gluten-free options available everywhere, even in the garden cafe. They had a gluten-free pizza option, which is pretty rare to find. Breakfasts were a highlight with choices like full Irish, vegetarian, gluten-free options, and even a healthy breakfast salad. The kids loved the pancakes! Times for breakfast are 7 - 11 which gave us SO much time without once having to panic or rush down for breakfast! It's also cooked fresh to order - no cold eggs or soggy sausages!! The rooms were spacious and comfy, with a shower and jacuzzi bath. The temperature was perfect, not too hot or cold. We felt so relaxed and at home. Overall, the Carrickdale Hotel has such a friendly atmosphere. Everyone we met was smiling and happy to help with anything we needed. It truly felt like a home away from home. It's real old school Irish hospitality that is often lacking in most places these days! I wish we could have stayed longer, and I can't recommend this place enough. If you're looking for a family-friendly, welcoming, and beautiful hotel, this is it!

We stayed here recently for a concert. The hotel itself was absolutely beautiful and we really enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel. The food was lovely and may i compliment the chef on the soup. It was just delicious. The concert was held and was supervised perfectly with no complaints at all except maybe the lack of seating. However my one complaint was our room. We stayed in 116 and I have to be honest and say we felt like we were in a prison cell. While the room was perfectly spotless and bed very comfy we had no view outside due to the frosted glass on the window. We paid 219 euro for the night and felt that this was not acceptable. I didn't complain as it was only one night for the concert but for that huge amount of money I would at least expect to be able to look outside the window. I definitely would not stay on that floor again but would be happy to visit the hotel again.

We had our staff Christmas party here on the 7th Dec we also had a local Awards night in Oct to say that the carrickdale staff know how to pull off a function is an understatement. There was 550 at the awards and they serviced and fed all like a military operation with hot food and a smile and even better at the Xmas nigh, the staff here are incredibly well trained hard working Excellent food excellent events management teams a very special nod to Michelle the event manager on the Xmas night. Well done Carrickdale best hotel service I have seen in a very long time

Hotel was fine reception staff could really do with a little cheer no hello welcome just yes , I want to check in and just to u want to pay with cash r card and have u stayed here before, gave me registration form and left door key and room number never mentioned breakfast r where it was We dined in restaurant Sunday night and service was not what would expect from 4 * Very limited and overpriced food and it was very average would expect a lot better . Pool was freezing. Bring ur own pillows as they were terrible and road noise was awful Look for a room at rear of hotel as traffic noise started shortly after 4am ( of course not fault of hotel) When I asked at reception about going see the Christmas light show in carlingford was told that’s about 20 mins away and no more even though it’s advertised on website about it . Breakfast staff were very unfriendly we were left standing at door for ages even though two female staff were stand chat in dining room Lovely reception area and really well decorated for Christmas but staff far from friendly

Absolutely beautiful hotel the room was fablous beds so comfortable pillow like clouds food amazing and every member of staff so so nice the pool facilities were perfe t great night in this hotel would definitely recommend highly to all my friends and family thank you carrickdale

I would like to say thank you so much to Michelle & staff for everything yous done for us on our wedding day yous made it feel so special I will always be grateful, All the staff were very polite and friendly to everyone. From the moment we met Michelle at the wedding show you made us feel so comfortable and even leading up to the wedding any questions you would answer straight away you are very professional. The night before our wedding I arrived to stay and had a lot of bags to sort and was stressed out but the receptionists and night manager told me to relax and they help me sort through my bags and they took everything to venue room and my bedroom for me they also were very kind and give me a different room to stay in because it was bigger as I was getting my hair and makeup done in that room. Both the bedroom I stayed in the night before and the bridal suite were absolutely stunning with gorgeous views from the window. Our wedding meal was lovely all food was fab, after the meal we went back into the drinks reception while the tables were been taken off the dance floor which I found that to be a bit long but apart from that everything was brilliant. I couldn’t fault the carrickdale at all they made it our dream wedding day. Thank yous Devin & Courtney
