Having booked this hotel for the last night of our two week honeymoon in September 2004, I was hoping that the hotel would live up to it's reviews and photos. With it being a two star hotel, I did not have high expectations however certain standards are still necessary. The hotel has a look of faded glamour from the outside which is really quite appealing. However, our room was incredibly basic. There was just a typical French net at the window - no other curtains. On the floor old lino and in the bathroom, water round the base on the toilet which looked rather suspicious. On top of that the walls were very thin but 'Hey, it was a bed for the night and we'd come a long way' Although dissapointed, we decided we would stay as we had our young daughter with us and had already moved in her travel cot etc. We had been travelling since 10am and needed some refreshment and having seen information on the web about the restaurant and bar the hotel allegedly had, we thought this would not be a problem. Wrong!!! The only food and drink available in the hotel is a breakfast. There is no bar and no proper restaurant. The receptionist did not even offer to make us something although he could see how tired and weary we were and gestured to a pizzeria closeby which wasn't even open. We tried to walk into the town but after 15 minutes and no sign of it, gave up. There was no alternative but to pack up and leave. The room was incredibly basic, the hospitality non existant and the frustration at wasting several hours in this place immense. The experience did not cost us financially, but has made me determined not to book this type of hotel again, instead sticking with the well known hotel chains that cross France and offer far higher standards for similar prices.
