Hôtel le d'Avaugour

We booked a room overlooking the Place Duguesclin for a 3 night break. The room does not have air conditioning but a large fan was provided which together with the nature of the stone walls made the room perfectly comfortable in 29`C heat. There was a separate toilet and bathroom within the bedroom which was clean and contained everything you would expect in a small 'boutique' French hotel. The large double bed was very comfortable for a great night's sleep. The staff were helpful, friendly and fluent in english. The exterior garden overlooking the ramparts was a bit of a bonus for a quiet afternoon drink away from the hustle of the main tourist streets across the square. There is a tiny 4 person ( 2 with luggage) lift to take you from floor to floor which is helpful to avoid the stone stairwell. The central location of this hotel is great the only real issue is parking if you come with a car. You have to time your arrival to avoid the busiest part of the day - or simply be very patient driving in circles around the car park waiting for someone to leave. Once you are in Dinan there are a myriad of places to eat and souvenir shops to visit. I highly recommend a walk to Lehon and then along the river Rance back to Dinan up Rue Jezual, visiting all the little artist galleries along the way. The Port du Dinan is also a lovely spot for a glass of wine and to watch the boats go by. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

We spent five days in Dinan, and this small hotel was perfect for our needs. The city center is right up the street, the Information office just down the street, and there is an absolutely delightful and extensive backyard garden that overlooks the Castle of Dinan. We spent late afternoons there with coffee or a cool drink from the bar, working on our watercolor sketches. Be sure to choose a room in the back with large windows facing the garden. (The website photos do not do it justice.) The owner and all of the staff were very accommodating!

Venue en pleine après-midi pluvieuse dans le centre historique de Dinan, le cadre est idyllique pour prendre un chocolat au bar. Le jardin donne sur les remparts face au jardin des petits diables et est constitué de jolies fleurs

Partiamo dalla cosa negativa: camera e bagno avrebbero davvero bisogno di essere rimodernate. per il resto solo note positive: all'accoglienza....un sorriso. Chiediamo info....un sorriso. Aperitivo in un meraviglioso giardino...con sorriso. A colazione, nonostante avessero preparato all'interno, ci chiedono se non preferiamo fare colazione all'aperto...con un sorriso. Bravissimi: ci avete fatto sentire ospiti graditi, non capita spesso.
