Sind nach Brier island gefahren, um eine whale watching Tour zu erleben und buchten darum in dieser Lodge, da es nichts anderes gab. Leider wurde die Tour wegen Nebels abgesagt und wir mussten die Zeit im Hotelzimmer verbringen. Das Hotel bietet keine Infrastruktur, nicht mal Mittagessen war möglich (nur Abendessen). Auf der Insel gibt es einen Laden mit dem nötigsten, ansonsten ausser einem Leuchtturm nichts. Das Hotel ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen und alles ist etwas ungepflegt. Der einzige Grund dorthin zu gehen sind die Walbeobachtungs-Touren. Zum Glück wurden wir am nächsten Tag bei gutem Wetter mit tollen Erlebnissen entschädigt.

Der gute Teil ist: wenn man Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit sucht, ist man auf Brier Island genau richtig. Als Ausgangspunkt für Whale Watching sehr gut gelegen (frühzeitig buchen!!). Es gibt wenig Möglichkeiten zum Essen auf der Insel, wobei das Hotel eine für den Abend bietet, die wir nicht probiert haben. Es gibt im Hotel einen gewissen Investitionsstau und es verströmt einen 80-90er Jahre „Charme“. Aber es gibt eben auch nicht viele andere Optionen in der Nähe, so dass der für die Leistung horrende Preis genommen werden kann.

We had a lovely stay at the lodge. We booked a room with a-kitchenette for an extra cost.throughly recommended it was housed in a separate area and so when door closed you couldn’t hear the frig or air con. Our room was in the second block, very clean and looked as though it had had a make over. View over the river and the lighthouse lovely , balcony meant we could sit outside and have breakfast and drinks in the evening. Lovely island for peace and tranquillity.

Pros *great location and views *staff are friendly and helpful on check in * cool lobby with tables, games and couches *restaurant is pretty good Cons *room in 3rd building - filthy ! The bathroom floor did not appear to have been mopped in a long time - hair, ants and dirt everywhere. Toilet did not appear to have been cleaned. Some horrible brown dried goop on hairdryer mount, door chain did not work, front door would not lock from outside - broken. * no AC and the portable fan had such filthy blades it would have been a health hazard to use it. *first floor room was VERY noisy - all the noise from second floor - including walking, water running, toilets flushing Overall, I expected better. I paid close to $300 for this room - and was shocked at the filth. Options are limited on the island - making it difficult to choose something else. They need to do better

This is a lodge on an island-and they do a great job accommodating the guests. We had two rooms with three dogs-the rooms were very clean, and comfortable. We overlooked the bay with the ferry going by. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The prices are reasonable. I have stayed here before, and will return when I have friends coming to Nova Scotia to visit! Thank you!

We are repeat customers, as we visit Brier Island almost every summer to watch the whales, seals and birds. During our visit this summer, we noticed some nice updates to the room, and cleanliness was back up to the standards we have come to expect from Brier Island Lodge. When booking Brier Rooms online, the form states that there are no TVs in the rooms, so we know in advance that there are no TVs in the room. That's fine with us. We're there to enjoy what Brier Island has to offer. Wi-Fi is available for Internet access. We also enjoyed our meals at Grandview on Brier Restaurant (reviewed separately). As we say every year, we will be back!

The lodge is clean and very basic. It is a bit of a relic with its decor, but it was clean. The rooms are tight but slept the two of us well. The bathroom is dated as is the rest of the room. The Wi-Fi is nearly nonexistent so download anything you need before you get there as the signal is also poor. It should be noted that we had two beautiful days on the island and the signal was still poor I can only imagine how it would be on a day with inclement weather. The restaurant in the lodge is mediocre at best, over priced for the small portions and quality of food. I am not a big eater and left the table hungry both nights.
