This was my first time on Cape Cod. It was trip I decided at the last minute and relied only on tips from a friend who lives on the Cape. I searched for hotels near the beach since I wanted to have a beach vacation and time to focus on writing. The pictures on the hotel website give the impression that it is located on the beach. It was a disappointment to arrive to the hotel and realized that we were a few blocks away from a small, rocky beach. The size of the room was comfortable. The air conditioner was loud, and it kept waking me in the middle of the night when the automatic temperature control was triggered. I also missed not having a desk in the room or an area on the hotel premises where I could sit down and write. There is a small table an chair outside the room, but the table is too small to set my computer and notebook. Please understand that, since this was my first time visiting the Cape, the references I’m using for comparison are of hotels in other regions, not of other hotels on the cape. I learned that Cape’s hotel rates are high compared to hotel in other regions. I expected to find other amenities, such as a coffee/tea shop where I could enjoy my tea with some breakfast pastry, not necessarily a full breakfast. Every morning, after I woke up, I would go down to the reception area wearing my pajamas to get a couple of tea sachets to bring back to my room to make myself a cup of tea. Why not to have the tea bag in the room already? Gladly, I had a car, and I could drive myself around to find other beaches and places to have breakfast. I found a small bakery about 10 minutes away walking. It would be nice to offer guests a list of nearby places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In general, it was a pleasant stay.
