I recently visited this hotel for the first time with my two kids. We came on holidays and rented one of the suite chalets. The hotel itself is very nice, new and stylish, however the service is awful. The only place in the hotel with great 5-star service is the ski shop. It exceeded any and all of our expectations while the remainder of the hotel and its staff have fallen short. The absolute worst part about our stay was when someone stole an extremely expensive and sentimental made-to-order Hermes handbag of mine, which had been keep hidden away in my carry-on luggage. That someone obviously has been one or an organised team of the persons who visited the chalet on the time when the bag was stolen. Cameras had shown that it was hotel staff and no one else !!! The luggage was out laying on the floor in the master bedroom and one of them opened it and subsequently stole the purse. Immediately, when I realized that the handbag had been stolen, I went up to the front desk and demanded that the receptionist contact the manager and the police. The receptionist told me that no managers were currently on site and refused to call the police. Finally, when a manager showed up, I was told that the police had been contacted but that the police will not come at night because it’s not a serious problem like someone dying. I was told to wait until the morning and I could go at 9am. Unfortunately, since I don’t speak French, I didn’t know what else to do. The following morning, I headed to the police station. At the entrance to our chalet, I was met by two hotel staff that came to tell me that the police couldn’t see me this morning because the station was closed for a “special training operation”. I didn’t believe them but I didn’t know what else to do. I contacted a friend to translate and went to the station that afternoon on my own. Once at the police station, the police officer informed me that the only reason that the police wouldn’t have shown up upon receiving such a call last night, is if the caller had downplayed the situation and requested we not come. The officer continued to tell me that under French law, they are obligated to come and respond to a call for theft regardless of the hour. He also told us that it’s not true that the station was closed this morning for special operation training and that we could’ve come as early as 8am to discuss an important matter such as theft. The police officer was apologetic and said that since so much time had passed, the chances of finding good evidence were much lower. So, it seems as if the hotel and its staff are covering for the thieves. Instead of immediately contacting the police and proceeding with a proper investigation, the hotel management decided that it was preferable to stall for as long as possible to give the thieves a chance to clean up and get away with the expensive item. Over the course of the following two days after the theft, I tried on numerous occasions to speak with hotel manager
