The Pink Cottage started as a fishing shack in 1955, the year after hurricane Hazel. In 1968 the 2 bedrooms and a bathroom were added. Also the back porch was enclosed and the kitchen was added including a large deck facing the water. In 2021 the shack was completely renovated and became The Pink Cottage. An enclosed outside shower with hot and cold water was added. The kitchen is fully furnished including a dishwasher. The pink cottage overlooks Montgomery Slough with its tidal creek where at low tide the many species of birds feed, at high tide watch for the dolphins. You may access the Slough at 17th Place West where you can catch your own shrimp, crab, or just explore the marsh with all its abundant life. You can also launch your kayak from this access. Our island cottage is perfectly placed under a canopy of magnificent live oaks, just steps away from the ocean. Nestled on a quiet beach access street, central to all the best attractions, shopping and eateries on Oak Island; close to nearby Southport. Public sidewalks along E Oak Island Drive make it easy to walk or bike to your favorite spots. Our classic cottage has been recently renovated and cheerfully decorated. With 1212 square feet and an open floor plan, there is plenty of space for you to comfortably relax. There are two living/entertaining areas in the home, both centrally connected through the galley kitchen. Two bedrooms provide enough sleeping arrangements for 4 guests. The master bedroom offers a queen bed, television and private en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom offers two twin beds (one is a trundle with an extra memory foam topper). Two full bathrooms with walk-in showers. Linens are provided (sheets, towels/washcloths) along with shampoo and soap. A full-size washer and dryer is available just off the master bedroom.If you decide to cook in during your stay, the kitchen has all the essentials you’ll need - refrigerator, oven, microwave dishwasher, pots/pans, utensils, coffee pot, dishes. A roll of paper towels will be provided, along with dish soap and detergent.Cable TV, wi-fi, bluetooth speaker along with some games, books and puzzles are available for your enjoyment.The spacious fully-fenced backyard with hammock and outdoor seating offers the perfect place to relax while children and pets safely play.
