Casa Rivera del Cacao

We stayed for 4 nights with the kids. Lovely hotel with comfy rooms and very friendly managers and staff. We asked for recommendations for activities with kids and they gave us plenty of ideas. There many things to do near by (car needed to move around). We did a few activities in the hotel including their cacao tour and spa. Both were very nice. The tour was very interactive and tailored to the audience. Would highly recommend a stay. Food was good and communal tables made for lively discussions between guests and managers. It was a very nice trip.

I am visiting Columbia for the first time. True embodiment of the Columbian culture, kindness, knowledge were all truly embodied by Jose and Anna. I had an amazing experience! If you want a place to get away and relax this is it! It was like staying in a place of such natural beauty and all the Columbian biodiversity represented all in one place. The rooms were super comfortable and clean. The property is beautiful for exploring and relaxation. The meals were fresh from farm and home cooked with amazing taste, near Michelin level food! Jose and Anna were extremely and genuinely kind and caring and knowledgeable about all aspects of Columbia as well as of course the history of chocolate. I discovered the exciting and delicious process of making chocolate from seed to bar, and the process of making a high quality chocolate. The love and care they have for their property as well as their guests is evident in everything they do. In addition, any questions about things to do in Periera, Jose and Anna have your back! I will definitely come back and stay when I come back to visit Columbia!

Jose & Ana were perfect hosts. Jose has so much knowledge of Colombia, extraordinary story teller too. Ana speaks great French, always looking out for clients. Food was of Colombian origin, very delicious. We felt like family here. The cocoa tour was tasty & informative. Already planning our 2025 visit .

This place is amazing. A true oasis of relaxation. We were really able to rest and recharge here. All of our meals were taken care of and very delicious! We brought our 11 month old son and the owners went out of their way to make good healthy food for him. They even watched him while he was napping so we could take a walk. Our son also enjoyed the pool. The rooms were super comfortable and we had our best nights of sleep of our whole two week trip. They property is beautiful for exploring. Jose and Ana were extremely knowledgeable about the area as well as the history of chocolate. The love and care they have for their property as well as their guests is evident in everything they do. Don’t hesitate, book this place! It’s a true gem.

Casa del Rivera is much much more than a hotel. It was a delight of the senes, a chocolate epiphany and a call back to a kind of hospitality that feels rare these days. Throughout the stay, Don Jose and his wife made us feel like we were old friends visiting instead of paying tourists. They also created a great environment with the other travelers - “family meals” that encouraged story swapping and relaxation in the evenings. We stayed for 2 days as part of a road trip through coffee region in Colombia with our family (including a 6 year old and an 8 month old). Don Jose and his wife were so warm and welcoming, filled with wonderful stories and information about the region and about cacao. Make sure to plan enough time for a chocolate experience - the tour of the land and hand-making high quality chocolate is a fascinating (and delicious) experience! We also did the tasting menu one night which was a great journey through the cuisine of Colombia. There was plenty for our daughter to explore on the farm and she enjoyed playing with the friendly dogs, tasting the cacao fruit and grinding her own beans. The rooms are comfortable of course and the food is delicious but the real draw is the experience. Also, quick plug for Alejandra and the Wake Up Coffee Tour which includes exploring Pijao and a trip to Don Leo’s farm for a real picture of how the best coffee is made (which is saying a lot), all of which is close to Casa del Rivera and is much less touristy than Salento and the rest of the coffee route.

Remarkable experience living on a farm that grows its own food and chocolate. Learned a lot on how coffee and chocolate is made from the plant to the plate. Get a great appreciation of food and nature. The place is beautiful and luxurious. The hosts were attentive and educational. Was able to sit down and eat with them, and they explained everything to me. Also toured the region with my hosts. This is an unique experience and a gem. The owners love their culture and food, and want to share it with you. Highly recommend.

Visite de la plantation avec Anna la propriétaire, ce fut un grand moment de plaisir dans un décor grandiose avec quelqu'un de passionné qui a su nous communiquer son amour pour le cacao et son petit paradis. Un grand moment pour nous, encore merci.

Séjour inoubliable chez Anna Maria et José Luis qui nous ont accueilli avec beaucoup de chaleur et de générosité. Les chambres sont très confortables et bien équipées, avec de petites attentions très agréables à l'arrivée. Les repas sont excellents, avec des arômes et des saveurs équilibrés qui excitent les papilles ! Visite de la plantation bio et récit de la découverte du cacao : du plant à la dégustation du chocolat dans une fontaine de chocolat sur des fruits exotiques (bananes, ananas et mangues)... un régal sur tous les plans ! Nous avons été conquis par la disponibilité de ce couple qui est passionné par son activité du cacao et transmet son savoir dans un français impeccable. Alors, n'hésitez pas à réserver chez eux ! Foncez !

Nous avons passé une nuit et une journée extraordinaire en Décembre 2023 dans cet endroit magique avec un accueil très chaleureux . Nous en gardons un souvenir inoubliable et un goût de cacao nous revient quand on regarde nos photos .Allez y vraiment. Cécile et Michel de Charente !!!
