All hotels in Como are expensive but we thought we would get a good deal at Hotel Plinius. The bedroom was large (we hadn't asked for a 3 bed room but liked the extra space) but the decor was getting tatty and worn. The bathroom needed renovating as tiles were cracked and there was black mildew all round the shower cubicle. The shower head and handle were broken which meant when water was running through, the whole thing came apart. We reported this each day we were there but nothing happened, no suggestions or apologies. It was obviously known about as the cleaner would have spotted it. Very disappointing. The breakfast was a bit better than basic with none of the Italian delicacies promised in the guest book. The coffee machine was inadequate for the number of guests as it had to be checked and refilled every 5/10 minutes. We felt this was not good value despite the location. We suggest you look a little further away from the centre to get a better experience.

This hotel is well located (although initially difficult to find), being only a short walk away from the centre of Como. The rooms are small but perfectly fine if you’re doing a little break at the lake. Breakfast is simple but does the job. The room that we stayed in was right on the main road, had an air conditioning control which didn’t work meaning we were left with either leaving the windows open to stay cool, but hear all of the traffic in the main road next to the room, or shut them, be hot and have it more quiet. Staff are helpful and will look after bags etc on your final day. Only actual main complaint came right at the end of our stay where one of the staff members got overly annoyed that we didn’t have cash to pay for 2 bottles of water, despite paying everything else on card. He raised his voice at us, we were happy to pay or figure it out but he was almost too angry to work it out. I would recommend staying here, just make sure you’ve got cash for water!

BB ist eine Hotelkette, die es in vielen Städten gibt, die ich in Europa und den USA gesehen und übernachtet habe. Allerdings sind die Hotels in Europa nicht sehr geräumig, die Betten sind klein und das Frühstück ist recht reichhaltig!

Nous avons apprécié : - La taille de l'appartement #4. - Sa propreté et la qualité de sa rénovation. - La localisation de la Résidence. La présence de deux TV et d'un climatiseur. Nous avons déploré : - L'accès à l'intérieur de l'immeuble, très mal sécurisé. Il nous est arrivé de pouvoir entrer en plein jour sans badge ou sans clé. - L'isolation phonique médiocre, tant par rapport à la rue qu'entre les appartements voisins ou supérieurs. Des résidents ou touristes mal élevés nous ont réveillés plus d'une fois en pleine nuit en parlant bruyamment. C'est inadmissible. - La salle de douche spacieuse mais dont l'agencement laisse à désirer. Peu de place pour ranger ses affaires de toilette. Aucun verre à dent. Nous avons dû utiliser les tasses prévues pour les boissons chaudes. L'éclairage y est de piètre qualité, mal orienté. - La VMC est efficace mais excessivement bruyante. Elle ne fonctionne pas en mode discret en continu, simplement avec l'éclairage de la salle d'eau. - L'absence de consignes de départ. Nous avons donc laissé les clés sur la table de l'appartement. - Il est annoncé à tort que le B&B dispose d'un parking. La solution la plus proche convient cependant, à 25 € la journée.

Sehr glücklich mit der Lage in der Nähe des Sees am Rande der Stadt. Preis gut unter anderen lokalen Hotels und ich denke, dies ist, weil das ganze Hotel, aber vor allem die Zimmer, brauchen Renovierung und sind ziemlich datiert. Das Zimmer war jedoch sauber und funktionell und so für einen Nachtaufenthalt, nicht wirklich ein Problem. Das Personal war alle wirklich freundlich und sie hatten unerwartet einen EV-Ladegerät zu einem wirklich guten Preis. Absolut keine Probleme mit diesem Hotel und wenn es die Renovierung erhält, bin ich sicher, die Preise werden verdoppelt.

This hotel hits A+ in all categories. We arrived via train and it was a 5 minute or so walk. This turned out to be a blessing, as our friends that were traveling with us (they booked another hotel further away) told us they could not get a taxi. Would have hate to have to drag our luggage further than 5 minutes! The front desk staff were superb. English speaking. Check in/out process was simple. They also made restaurant recommendations. Our room was comfortable, nice beds, large closet for storage. The bathroom and shower were very clean and nice. Air condition worked well and kept us cool. Breakfast was included in the room rate. We enjoyed a good variety of pastries, meats and cheese. Yogurts and a hard boil egg machine for freshly hard boiled eggs. That was a treat! Also enjoyed the cappuccino made each morning. They also had a terrace area for relaxation with view to a lovely aqueduct. The location is on a small and quiet street. Not a lot of traffic. It is not lake front, but within 10 minutes walking distance. We found a market nearby.
