Hotel Borgovico

Nice small hotel within less than a 10 min walk from train station. We were put in a family suite (easily fits 4) even though there were only 2 of us traveling together. It was also across the small courtyard from other rooms in the hotel and up a flight of stairs. If you have a lot or heavy luggage just be prepared (the staff was very helpful in getting the luggage up) otherwise there's an elevator in the main building if that's where you're staying. Beds were comfortable with a queen on the main floor and 2 twins in a loft area. The loft is not bad for the night but the stairs to the loft are a little dicey so use the handrail. Large bathroom/wet room. There was a tea kettle and tea amenities which helped. You can feel/hear the trains go by but not very loudly so if a light sleeper, earplugs should do the trick and they do stop around midnight and don't start again until around 0630 or 0700.  We didn't have breakfast at the hotel. City center was about a 15 min walk away and the water/lake was less than 10 min away. There is a grocery store about 5 min away and plenty of shopping and restaurants within an easy 20 min walk. Staff was very nice, professional, and helpful with information. I would recommend staying here.

Overall the stay was good. We did feel uncomfortable at night, there was no option to put the air on because the temperature outside was not hot enough. We had the windows open and heard a lot of noise outside. You can only take one hot shower at a time also. Besides this the place was clean and close to the train station.

We enjoyed our stay at the Borgovico Hotel! We stayed in the blue Superior Double room, which had floor to ceiling windows that looked out onto Via Borgo Vico. It was clean with a good sized bathroom. They also have a courtyard as well as some tables in the lobby where we ate our pizza takeout one night. The hotel is just a short walk from the ferry and the downtown Como area, and a very short walk to the lake. The street is quieter but also has a great bakery and some restaurants and a bar. Great location. Special shout out to Alex, who was so friendly and helpful, as well as the woman who also worked the front desk (I forget her name)! Thank you for everything.

Definitely no lake views. Staff were unkind and quite frankly rude. Tried to charge us for 3 nights when we had amended to a two night stay more than three months prior. Had to argue our point when we clearly had written confirmation…which quite frankly, ruined my trip. Shower was awful, water did not drain properly. So you had to use the hand shower and take 3min showers otherwise bathroom would flood. Told the staff about this on the first day and was promised something would be done, but no one even bothered to take a look. AC never worked properly. Stairs are dangerously steep and glass see through bottoms…not safe for children at all. This was meant to be a family room, but my husband ended up sleeping upstairs in the single bed and my son downstairs with me, as it was completely unsafe should he have needed to use the bathroom during the night. Would never recommend this place nor ever choose to stay here again! The attitude from the staff was utterly disgusting and disrespectful!

Very nice hotel Reasonably priced and well located in Como 24 hour desk reception was a huge advantage for me

Loved our 2 night stay here. We will most likely return to Como and if we do, we will definitely stay here! Room is large, spacious and spotless. Lots of storage, large safe and a mini fridge to keep your drinks cold. The bed was very comfortable and we had one of the best sleeps. Bathroom is also nice and spacious. AC functioned well. We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel for one morning and it was fine. Breakfast in Italy is generally different from what we are used to in Canada. We met a lovely couple during breakfast which was nice. Front desk staff are great. They speak English well and are friendly and helpful. Location is great. A short walk from the train station and a little longer but nice walk to the water front and to various restaurants. Quiet location which we really liked. Highly recommend.

Disappointing at that price .. No refrigerator or coffee machine in room, and they charge if you want coffee in the lobby! 10 minute walk to lake..not waterfront. Elevator not reliable and general condition dated.
