For such a new Premier Inn this was very disappointing. It’s in a convenient location, right next to the M4. But unlike the other Bridgend Premier Inn next to the M4 this isn’t so close to the motorway to be noisy. However, the soundproofing in the rooms is terrible and I could hear a couple nearby talking loudly and someone else’s tv. The other noise that disturbed was the ticking/clicking radiator which was really noisy when it came on. However, it was useless as a source of heat. It never went above the set temperature and couldn’t be adjusted. So the room was cold, as well as being noisy. The shower fan cannot be turned off and isn’t linked to the light switch so made a noise 24/7 and made the bathroom permanently cold. It was most unpleasant to be exposed to such a cold temperature when you have to use the shower. Not even a heated towel rail to take the chill out the air in the bathroom. The worst thing about the newly built hotel is that they’ve clearly gone for profit above comfort. They’ve taken a good foot, if not two foot, off the width of the room compared to older Premier Inns. It means that you can barely move past the desk and chair and the room feels horribly cramped. The chair for the desk is also totally unsuitable for sitting at the desk - it’s slightly reclined and too low so impossible to sit up at the desk to do any work. There is free parking but the car park is shared with the pub next door and a KFC. Particularly at weekends, it’s difficult to find a parking space. The one redeeming feature of the hotel that stopped me giving it the lowest one star rating was the staff. What a lovely, friendly and helpful bunch. Couldn’t fault them.
