This is my second time staying here, and it was just as pleasant as the first time. A comfortable room, everything works beautifully, plenty of outlets, and USB ports for recharging devices, and a super friendly staff. They were quite helpful in every regard, with a fast check in and check out. They were also spot on when I asked for a recommended restaurant for dinner. I went to Loretta’s, and it was great! The complimentary breakfast is also a great way to start my day. Will always be coming back to the Essex Street Inn when I visit Newburyport.

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting family. The front desk staff was very friendly and recognized my Diamond status at checkin. Throughout our stay, the staff was very friendly and welcoming to my family and always had a smile on their face. The housekeeping staff was always very welcoming as you would walk by them and overall it was a very pleasant interaction with all staff members. Unfortunately, for our in room experience, it was not a pleasant one. When we would walk around on the carpet, our feet would Stick to it. Within minutes the bottoms Of our feet turned black. There was hair and dirt buildup in almost every corner of the bathroom, closet, and anywhere two edges met that was swept but never picked up. The staff did offer to move us, but due to traveling with an infant and having way too Much baggage to move and my parents being in another room with similar room conditions, it did not make sense. Overall, I would return, but I recommend checking the room for cleanliness before unpacking. Hotel management: this property has such great potential but please deep clean the floors and have staff members do follow up checks on the cleanliness of the rooms. We had two rooms booked here and both were in similar conditions.
