Approach to Milton hill is lovely well sign posted as were the disabled parking. Beautiful entrance and smelt lovely. Staying on a Secret Escapes break we were delighted we stayed in the house, room 406 . Great views of the back of the Great Park . Squirrels, deer ,rabbits and a plethora of birds . The room a good size updated bathroom was good with a sensible wardrobe case stand and equipped with iron ,hairdryer and ironing board tea and coffee and tinned water nice touch . It in places needed a little tlc but the views compensated for a bit of missing paint . Dining room with its side dining areas had great views too though again the main area is a little dated but served its purpose.. Food was from the normal menu with price adjustment if you go over the set allowance. This is by far the best way of doing it ,why other places don't do this I don't know . A word about staff they whilst obviously were under pressure maintained an excellent level of service ,attention and please take some cash down to dinner and tip good service. Our servers were almost shocked we cash tipped them saying it's now a rare occurrence. This bring me on to lost stars firstly it needs a coat of paint in places desperately the building has some beautiful features but look tired . Secondly the bar floor is a disgrace wooden floor scratched to obliteration . Seems small observations ? Yes they are but detail to the discerning guest is a huge part of a enjoyable stay . And finally the old cash chestnut . They don't take payment in cash it should be our choice not the establishment. Now a word about the spa nice pool not big with 10 people in it it felt full, steam and sauna again compact but adequate shame jacuzzi wasn't working but hey things go wrong changing room (male) too small lockers faulty .So in brief take cash, tidy public areas and I would have given five stars happily. I also would if given a” in the house” room do a return visit to do an update review

This is a very decent hotel and it offers perfectly nice accommodation. The whole place is a bit of a warren of stairs and fire doors and don't expect the floors to be flat - because they aren't. This is just a product of the building structure and many will say it's a charming feature - although walking uphill to the bed is a fairly unique experience. The bathroom was very well appointed and the shower/bath was superb. Lashings of hot water which was like standing under a waterfall at times! The only downsides were that the room was quite dark and it would have been nice to have a towel rail in the bathroom plus some shelf space to put toiletries on... but these are minor gripes. The breakfasts were excellent and the service was second to none. If you're looking for a stopover place when visiting Oxford, then this place would be a good choice.

Interesting building right next to the railway station. Perfectly adequate and comfortable room with complimentary television, tea, coffee and biscuits, and generous ensuite. Location is a short walk to picturesque Culham Lock on the River Thames in one direction, and the village of Clifton Hampden in the other. The restaurant offered a good choice of meals and the quality of the food and the service was exceptional. The next day, we came down to breakfast at the pre-arranged early 7am, and the two lovely ladies who cooked and served us the previous evening were there waiting to take our order - a full English cooked breakfast. The Railway Inn was the perfect choice for an overnight stop to split our journey. Thank you for such an enjoyable stay.

The hotel is great. Very responsive. Some tourists were smoking and drinking in their room with room door opened, the whole corridor became smoky and smelly, as soon as we called, we were given a different room on different floor.

Wir genossen das Carvery am Hilton Garden Inn Abingdon dieses Wochenende. Wir waren eine Party von 10, mit Altersbereich von späten Jugendlichen bis früh 80s. Das Hotel ist wunderschön, mit warmem Willkommen bei der Ankunft von der Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption. Wir saßen in der Bar für eine Weile, während wir auf die Ankunft aller Party warten. Die Bar ist willkommen und komfortabel und die Getränke vernünftig bezahlt. Um 12:30 Uhr machten wir unseren Weg zum Restaurant und warten für eine Weile auf den Sitz. Das war unser erstes Besuch in der Karriere und es wäre für ein Mitarbeiter nützlich gewesen, uns den Prozess zu erklären - aber wir sahen, was andere Kunden tun und folgten dem Anzug. Das 3-Kurs-Lunch ist alle Selbstbedienung und Getränke werden aus der Bar. Zuerst gab es eine Auswahl an Suppen mit Hausbrat und Salat mit kaltem Fleisch. Ich hatte den Salat und es war sehr schön, vor allem die Kartoffelsalat, die lecker war. Die Schnittstelle war fantastisch. Mit einer Auswahl an Schweinen, Rindfleisch und Hühnern, Kartoffeln, Kaulblumenkäse, gemischten Gemüse und Yorkshire Puddings. Leider waren einige der servierbaren Platten leer, als wir da waren und wir mussten eine Weile warten, bis sie wieder gefüllt werden. Ich vermute, das war auf die Sitzung, die um 12:30 Uhr beginnt, so eine sofortige Drohung von Menschen. Das Rindfleisch war absolut lecker, wie die Kartoffeln und die Yorkshire Puddings waren wirklich schränkig. Ich verstehe von einem meiner Gäste, dass der Hühner perfekt war. Die Gemüse wurden für meinen Geschmack unterkocht, aber der Kaulblumenkäse war wunderschön. Wir hatten ein wirklich tolles Essen. Es gab einige Verbesserungen, die zur Verbesserung der Erfahrung gemacht werden konnten, aber nichts, um mich zu verhindern, in wenigen Wochen wieder zum Geburtstag einer Familie zurückzukehren.
