We spent two midweek nights here. This lovely downtown hotel was built in 1913, and has a beautiful early 20c lobby. If you stay in an historic hotel, you have to understand that some things will not be as good as staying at a modern hotel. For example, bedrooms and bathrooms will often be smaller, there may not be a pool, etc. But for us, being a part of history is enjoyable, and we've stayed in many hotels with an historic background. We found the Fort Garry to be a lovely place---the historic vibe is definitely there. The hotel's location is great---you can walk to the riverside Forks Historic District, with its famous market, museums, etc. And the hotel is only a block from the historic railroad station. Yes, our room was a bit small, but the bed was comfortable. We asked for a room with a good view, and got one on the 5th floor with a nice view of the railroad station and garden areas nearby. The staff here were exceedingly friendly, from the front desk staff to the restaurant servers. For example, our breakfast server from the previous day made a special effort to come over and talk to us the next day, even though she was not our server that day. Really good effort to make you feel comfortable! The hotel has a very nice fitness room, but no pool (you can pay for pool privileges at an adjacent building). The beautiful hotel restaurant (Oval Room) also reeks of history. We had breakfast there two times and dessert (not dinner) once. It's highly rated, and the food was very good. Parking here can be an issue. You can self-park on a fairly small one floor lot on the hotel's first floor, or down below in a basement garage. The first floor lot often fills up with patrons of the restaurant or business functions, but the basement lot was never full, and we used that one on both nights of our stay. Just note that the basement garage has no elevator. Overall, we had a delightful stay at the Fort Garry.

The staff and their willingness to help and go the extra mile in everything a hotel guest needs.The front desk staff, sales manager, housekeeping and maintenance are outstanding and helpful! They provides clean and comfortable rooms with all the amenities you’ll need during your stay. The Sandman is in a great location to local shopping and close to the airport with a hotel shuttle available too. Highly recommend for anyone’s stay in Winnipeg. -Mazhar

Ich genossen, im Alt Hotel in Winnipeg zu bleiben. Das Design des Zimmers war phänomenal - liebte das hohe Deckenbad in meiner Suite, die Aussicht auf Winnipeg im Zentrum und die allgemeine interessante Lage von Artikeln und Texturen des Zimmers selbst. Ich hatte meinen kleinen Musiksprecher zu Hause vergessen, aber die Alarmstunde hatte einen Bluetooth-Sprecher, so was toll! Das Hotel ist in einer guten Lage, um die Innenrestaurants zu erreichen, etc. Das Merchant Restaurant direkt neben dem Hotel hatte leckeres Essen! Der Fitnessraum war schön und geräumig. Das Personal war alle hilfsbereit und die Zimmer wurden sauber gehalten! Ich werde wieder bleiben, danke.

I quite enjoyed the room—particularly the floors, as the dingy carpet so typical in these chain hotels had been removed. This gave the room a much cleaner, modern, and appealing vibe. Lots of space for office work with plenty of plug ins. From my 26th floor room, the view was great. Bed is comfy. I do wish that the hotel would provide a plain kettle for boiling water. I am a tea drinker not coffee, and boiling water in those little ‘coffee makers’ is very awkward, not to speak of the lingering coffee aftertaste. There was a fridge but no microwave. No safe. Unfortunately the restaurant which I only tried once was TRULY mediocre. For wine lovers, don’t bother—they only had 1-2 selections of horrible wine. Go with beer — much safer. My main issue is that the location of the hotel has become quite troubling, with many First Nations individuals in the area, many clearly suffering from substance abuse. Often they were congregated around the doors, and there seemed to be very little in the way of security. As a solo female traveller, I felt unsafe. Even during the day, there were two fights that broke out nearby during my four day stay. Very sad and unfortunate but I would not elect to stay here again until this situation improves.

When my furnace quit working late on a cold winter evening, I needed a place to stay for the night, until it could be repaired. I headed over to try this nearby neighbourhood establishment. I chose a room in the motel, figuring it would be quieter than the hotel. I also chose a second floor room, as I felt safer than having an entrance door onto the main street. It is an older building, and the room was smaller, but well maintained, very clean and comfortable. Queen bed, side chair, large desk and chair, TV, good sized fridge, free Wifi, complimentary water and coffee, and a coupon for breakfast. The bed and pillows were comfy, there was good hot water in the shower, and Dove bath products. The building itself was very quiet, I didn’t hear a soul, and the street traffic didn’t disturb me. There was a private balcony, too cold to use, but I could open the door for some fresh air. The room was quite warm overnight, and I didn’t see a way to turn down the heat from the radiator. Lots of free parking right in front. A very comfortable stay!

Komfortable, entspannende Atmosphäre. Die Sitzungsräume waren modern, großes TV für Präsentationen anstatt mit einem Projektor. Das Bett war komfortabel, große Zimmer mit Dusche und Dusche. Die Suiten sind großartig. Sehr geräumig. Sauber. Große Einrichtungen für einen langen Aufenthalt. Mein Stock war ruhig und ich konnte überhaupt keine Lärme aus anderen Zimmern hören. Betten sind komfortabel. Alles mit dem Personal, das ich getroffen habe, waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück war ein Grab und gehen (Covid ähnlich ich nehme an, da sie eine ziemlich große Essbereich ist, die geschlossen ist). So viele Möglichkeiten wie möglich, um in Ihr Zimmer zurückzunehmen, wie man erwartet, würde ich sagen. Ein Vorschlag wäre, auch Brot als Option hinzuzufügen. Der eine große Nebenansicht zu meinem Aufenthalt war, die Sicherheitspräsenz war alarmierend. Ich habe herausgefunden, warum nach den letzten drei Nächten. Mein Zimmer war mit dem Parkplatz und einem anderen Hotel konfrontiert. Die ganze Nacht und bis zum Morgen schreien, fliegend schreien und schreien von anderen Hotelgästen, die sich um die Außenseite legen. Ich glaube, die Sicherheitskräfte tun ihr Bestes, indem sie eine Präsenz sind, aber es reicht nicht, um die ständige Störung zu verhindern. Ich werde versuchen, „über den Halle“ auf die andere Seite des Hotels zu bewegen, annehmen, es wird besser, da ich nicht vor dem Hotelparkplatz stehen. Neben dieser Frage ist das Hotel ziemlich darn perfekt. Deshalb habe ich es 4 Sterne gegeben. Leider ist die ständige Schlafunterbrechung ein wichtiges Thema.

Es war so eine schmeichelose Erfahrung für eine kurzfristige Gefühl zu Hause wie Aufenthalt. Val ist so eine freundliche Dame und sorgt sich wirklich für Sie als besonderes Familienmitglied. Sie können ein hausgemachtes kleines Stück Schokolade auf Ihrem Bett finden, genießen Sie die Wärme eines gemütlichen Außenwarmtuben. Siehe das Foto. Fühlen Sie sich wie zu Hause ist, was sie jeden Tag hart versuchen, um Ihnen diesen Fußabdruck in allen Details, die Sie in diesem Mietvermögen sehen werden. Ich nannte es eine Wert-für-jedes-penny-Erlebnis, die kaum zu schwer von irgendwo in der Welt, aber ein Ort, um sich wie ein Haus von 2 großzügigen und warmherzigen Frauen verwaltet zu fühlen. Ich will nicht zu viel schreiben, weil ich sie wahrscheinlich nicht nächstes Mal buchen konnte. LOL
