Travelling with someone who is not my partner and selected a self-contained villa online. When we arrived, there was just one double bed in the shared sleeping / living room. The photos of the villas on the TMV website has only one picture showing both beds and that has the double in one room and a single in the living area. As we were not a couple, that is what we wanted and expected. We paid $150 expecting 2 rooms. I could have paid $100 in Newcastle for a single room with 2 beds. When I called the reception, I was told there was a sofa bed and if I pulled it out it should have sheets on it. The staff came to the villa and the sofa was opened, ejecting a number of crumbs, half eaten chips and an old drink bottle covered on cobwebs. The sheets were on the sofa bed, but from when? I just slept in my clothes on top of the sheets and showered in the morning. The person who had been on reception was quite dismissive suggesting the problem was because we booked on line. ( why be on booking.com if it's not ok to book on line?). If we didn't like it, we could get a refund and go somewhere else ( at 9pm on a Saturday). But to add some balance, if there had been a separate room as in the photo on the website and the bed had been made up and not filled with what had fallen down the back of the couch, then it might not have been too bad. It was clean, quiet and good enough for a one night stay. But not for $150 a night in Newcastle.

Excellent value for a very clean and comfortable accommodation with great Managers. Everything in the room that you need - Hair dryer, shampoos,conditioners, microwave, bar fridge, kettle, plates and cutlery. Toaster available from Reception. Have stayed a few times and will always return.

Very disappointed with Customer service. First night of our vacation got ruined, all because staff who gave us a rate failed to inform night manager. The night staff then gave us very hard time and left us stranded outside the hotel for 2 hours. He was so unhelpful he did not bother to contact staff to confirm what arrangements we had. I briefed this to another manager next morning and he said he'd give me a call few hours later, haven't heard from him Terrible customer service. Avoid this place at any cost

Everything clean and high quality. Very professional operation. Great for groups with a wonderful catering size kitchen fully equipped. Good quiet location just a short drive from everything in Newcastle. Cleaners very particular about everything.

Shortland Hotel ist ein toller Ort, um Familie und Freunde zu treffen und für alle Altersgruppen geeignet. Sie haben jede Nacht etwas von billigem Essen bis zu Raffles und besonderen Veranstaltungen. Vernünftiges Preis-Lebensmittel und lecker. Das Personal war wunderschön und ich bin glücklich, dass ich von meinem Haus aus wandeln kann.
