My friend and I stayed 7 nights recently at this motel in separate rooms and were very happy with the experience.The owners were helpful and supplied an extension cord immediately when asked.And were knowledgable about directing us around town.The rooms were serviced daily.Only issue was spa bath didnt function...when running water endlessly just went out again through outlet and never filled up to the jets.However was great to have a bath every night.Would stay there again :) Price was reasonable and handy location..

The loveliest - particular thanks to Sam - front desk staff (and efficient too). Excellent location, only a short walk to the centre, and very pleasant if you go through the park. There is also a bus stop directly outside; it will take you to the centre, or go to the bus station and take a trip to Sumner or Lyttleton - both worth a visit. Rooms are spacious and clean, beds comfortable. For some reason though, complimentary water and crisps only appeared on our first day! Useful to have a guest laundry, but be warned there is only one machine for all floors... The kitchen area is fine, but not for those who want to cook up a storm - you need to ask for pots and pans. Not a problem for us as we preferred to eat out (try Rangoon Ruby nearby, good, if somewhat 'neutralized' flavours, as the waitress herself put it!) . Overall a really pleasant stay in a very interesting city.

We have stayed at Merivale Manor on several occasions. Gin and Phil go out ot their way to make you feel welcome. Nothing is a problem, their local knowledge of activities, eateries, shopping etc is always welcomed. A great place to stay. The apartments are ideal for families or groups. The rooms are very comfortable, meticulously clean and quiet. Conveniently close to the airport, hospital, city centre and with a bus stop at the front gate, makes the location perfect The wonderful shopping and resturants/ bars that Merivale has to offer is only a 2 min walk away. We will definitely return.

Pros: Lovely bathrooms with great showers and camp kitchen. Great play area for the kids. Cons: Sites were very narrow and hard to access, felt very claustrophobic. Laundry used online pay system that was tedious and hard to use. Had to pay several times to find our machine were not working. Machines leaked water everywhere.
