I started this review with a 5 star rating but have changed it to 4 after a slightly strange post check out experience. This new hotel is well equipped with all amenities we could possibly need for a 3 night stay with our young son. It is an easy walk to New Regent Street and the Margaret Mahy playground, but nice and quiet at night. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. We took advantage of the parking on site which is conveniently located to the rear of the hotel. Which leads me to the strange experience! Post check out I received a voicemail asking me to call them as our parking space number had been knocked off the wall and asking me to “shed some light on the matter”. A little upset by the tone of the message, and horrified by the thought that we might have damaged something, I immediately rang them back to apologise and offered to pay for any remediations. The staff member I spoke to said the matter required further investigation and he would call me back. I then spoke to my husband who pointed out that the sign in question was in fact a printed sheet of paper stuck to the wall! He added that he didn’t recall hitting the wall, but if he had it would have been his spare tyre which wouldn’t have broken anything anyway. A third phone call came when we were told that they had managed to rectify the issue. It is a shame they didn’t look into it before calling me and causing me undue anxiety. So all in all, we had a great stay and would have certainly stayed here again were it not for the unsettling experience after we checked out.
