Boca de Agua Bacalar

Incredible experience. Place, staff and architecture mach together to deliver one of my life’s travel highlights. Natural setting is spectacular. We had the luck to see a wild toucan! Really enjoyed morning swims in this remote part of the Bacalar lagoon. Food was delicious and staff attentive. Architecture spectacular. I am already planning my next trip to Boca de Agua!

The exquisite Villas with their astonishing views made me feel part of the jungle. Sleeping to the sound of the wind on the leaves of the surrounding trees with the chorus of frogs and instects is something I remember still... and then waking up with the tropical birds and monkeys coming to say hello through the window was very unique! I cannot express enough how this hotel nestled in the middle of pristine jungle was an experience I will never forget, and hope to repeat as soon as I can. The hotel's team exceeded all expectations making us feel at home. The lagoon and the walkway to get there is breathtaking on every step. It is difficult to describe in words how this magical place truly makes you feel. Thank you again for everything! Will definitely be back soon.

We had the most incredible stay at Boca de Agua! The location is complete paradise, you get the authenticity of the jungle and the wilderness of the bacalar mangroves and lagoon - but with complete luxury. The treehouses are stunning, you’ll have the most peaceful rest stilted within the jungle and the restaurant is incredible - the menu alone is one to come and try. From breakfast through to dinner the dishes were packed with flavour. We opted for the cooking class with Chef Sergio and so glad we did as we got to learn how to professionally prepare ceviche with the on site grown ingredients. And in our opinion, the sunrise kayak tour is NOT to be missed. Witnessing the day starting and the sun rising while paddling in a silent cenote was a memory we will never forget. A peaceful few hours at the lagoon pier is another moment that will stay with us, you really see that you are in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Lastly there has to be a mention for the staff- every single person from front desk, to bar and restaurant and housekeeping went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable, right down to one staff member even leaving us written recommendations for our next stop in Mexico. They were genuinely kind and made our trip so special. Thank you Boca De Agua - we WILL definitely be back!

The hotel and the setting is absolutely stunning. We loved our room so much so that it was an effort to leave it in the morning! Very comfortable bed and the outdoor shower was a treat. Our greeting from reception and our tour of the hotel from Herman were excellent. The service was a little hit and miss in the bar and restaurant area. Also we returned to our room at 4.30pm to find that housekeeping hadn’t visited. It feels like the place lacks the attention of a good hotel manager.

This has been probably the best holiday We have had in our lives. WELIVE IN ireland and like traveling around d the world. However the experience you get to live in Boca de Agua is Real. As a Mexican I have been in many beaches, lakes, falls and ojos de agua in Mexico, but the part of the Baccalar laguna you have access to from this hotel is very special. Being in the narrow area of the Laguna, you fell very safe, you can swim if you wish to the other side without being a professional swimmer or just relax and enjoy the silence and espectacular view of this very large natural swimming pool. The hotel is in the middle of the jungle and it's real jungle, not made up like other places in the mayan riviera. The accommodation is an extraordinary design, where a tree house clashed with a modern chalet. The feeling is that they have respected the jungle and it's creatures. The restaurant is top class. I have been here twice in less than a year, and the food is michelins star. The service is second to none. I have stayed in many old castles/hotels in Ireland and Scotland, where they make you feel like it's your home, but you know it isn't because you just couldn't have what's around you. However I Boca de agua, it really feels like home, it's not a presumptuous place, it's just unique. Everybody is looking after you, every details of your stay is look after, from the reception and their incredible team to support your activities to the waiters, the chef, the Manager, the incredible and amazing people looking after the room and the hotel, it just feels like everything is fine, and you can sit down and sip you favourite cocktail in the pier, or relax in the amacas in the swimming pool. Or just stay in your tree house refreshing in your private pool or amaca. At nights the smell of copal takes you back to the ancient mayan world, and waking up early to sip a delicious cup of coffee, from the country that gave coffee, chocolate and turkey to the world is simply amazing. I highly recommend anybody to visit this place. It's in truth one of the best ones in the world
