The Stump

The Stump was fully booked and we were a walking, they accommodated us and we were delighted they did as I've never tried Pizza like it! I'd fly over again just for it! Pizza is great, cocktails are lovely and the staff were amazing. It's a must visit if you're in the area, or even fancy the drive!!

We stayed at The Stump hotel in the summer for a friends wedding. Despite being in the middle of no where it was surprisingly easy to get to. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly and welcoming staff who showed us to our room. The rooms were a good size for 2 people (we had 2 double beds). The bathroom was stylish and the shower was powerful. Our sleep was very comfortable and so quiet. As 2 females we felt very safe. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. There was a variety of options which was a nice surprise for a small hotel. The staff at breakfast were very attentive and polite. I recommend The Stump for anyone visiting the area and fancy a quiet little break.

The people were helpful and the setting was lovely. The cleanliness let it down, pillows were all covered in hairs like a grizzly bear had been sleeping in the bed, no pillow protectors so as the pillow case was opening up all you saw were long black hairs. I messaged the team and they got replaced. The bathroom was tired, hairs everywhere on the walls of the shower and a dirty stain in the shower that could have been scoured off but had been left. The walls were all splashed and marked, simply using bathroom paint would have solved the problem. The breakfast was fine but the bacon was cooked within an inch of its life. To be honest when we saw the state of the pillows we contemplated going home, luckily these were replaced. It just wasn’t worth £139 in our opinion.

This place hold fondest memories, and it beats expetations everytime. From working here when I was younger, to visting now. It has come leaps and bounds. Such charecter surrounding this venue and look forward to visiting again soon with the family

Food while being average on price for the area offered what could only be described as a charcoal taste due to the base of each of our Pizzas being burnt. Service was pretty slow and the mandatory 12.5% tip you need to leave on the bill just put me right off ever considering this place again. We were also surrounded by large tables of children screaming their heads off. Not the kind of setting you want as a couple on a Saturday evening. Spend your money elsewhere is my advice.

Understandable turning up at 8pm on Friday evening, we accepted a wait for takeaway pizza. We walked around to the takeaway shack, where we waited for 10 minutes before anyone showed up. When the guy did appear, his attitude was short and came across very rude. If it wasn’t 8pm we would have gone elsewhere due to his attitude. While we waited for our pizza, to be cooked in the restaurant while he sat in the shack watching videos on his phone. Surely it would make more sense to utilise the shack and have it in use rather than be paying someone to sit there and watch videos and be uninviting to customers? Also when you’re advertising a takeaway pizza shack, you would expect to be able to order in advance.
