DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Charlotte

The Hotel is 2 blocks away from Spectrum center so the location is fantastic for concerts or games. Parking is around the corner at the Wake Forest Parking garage for $29, which you will need to get validated on checkout. Room was standard king room, clean and comfy. Only little petty things that could have made the stay even better -- only had 1 drinking cup in our room, no liquid soap available (but did have Crabtree & Evelyn Shampoo and lotion) and had to ask for our doubletree cookies (not offered).

No complaints, really. It’s a good hotel. Parking is in an adjacent parking garage, and there’s no direct entrance to the hotel once you’ve parked. You have to walk out of the garage, and back around the front of the hotel, which was not convenient. Parking is $20 a day. I had a salad & wine at the bar, and it was good, too.

There must’ve been some reason I chose this hotel after reading all kinds of reviews, and it must’ve been the price because it needs to be refurbished! The chair and ottoman should be given away for free because of all the rips ! If they took that out, the room would be better. The toilet is partway under the bathroom ledge for the sink. So that is very strange! Our TV remote was not functional at all, and our safe was in operable! I had to take all my jewelry and cash with me every time we left the room! On the upside, The cookie was great and the staff was super kind! There’s not a real easy way to get your luggage from your car to the room unless you park by the main entrance and unload. We had asked the clerk to fix the two issues while we were gone all day. When we got home at 4:30, nothing had been done . This hotel does not measure up to the hotel chain I have stayed at in the past! I really did appreciate the peloton in the gym! Paper napkins instead of towels were provided though. I did have a great night sleep, and I really liked the bedding! Pillows were nice and fluffy and there were four on my double beds just for me! Hubby slept great to in the next bed.

It's the little things that take a hotel stay from mediocre to great and this hotel missed the mark for me. Odor upon entering the room, inoperable safe, tub backed up while showering, tiny fridge, no microwave in the room, fan in bathroom did not work well so the room steamed up whilst showering meaning the door had to be left open. One coffee and one teabag each and just one decaf coffee to what? Share? It just felt stingy. The worst problem was the constant slamming doors from all floors during the stay. Very jarring and made resting less than ideal. I don't anticipate returning to Charlotte any time soon but I highly doubt I would stay here again.

The rooms are nice, but dated. The bed was quite comfortable. The A/C did not work properly. Each staff member I interacted with was professional and friendly. Food ordered at the lobby bar/ restaurant was hot and tasty. It is a very long walk to the hotel’s onsite parking deck. The hallway on the fifth floor smelled horrendous, but the individual guest room smelled and was clean. I’d probably return if the hotel is renovated.

Walked in to be greeted by great customer services at this hotel. Special shout-out to joAnn, and Nicole. Definitely see Cassandra at the bar because she’s a shoot…lol. I’ll definitely stay at this hotel again. FYI, please get the elevators fixed. Thank you. Hurricane K
