Villa 1927 Arthotel Boutique

This is a beautiful historical place that missed the mark in many ways - Professionalism, Smell, Noise, Cleanliness, Maintenance and Safety. Staff is nice, though they have not been trained with professionalism and in some instances were not helpful - they also do not have uniforms. The room is not maintained... paint, paint splatter on floor, beautiful brick ceiling that needed repair, etc. Cleanliness is poor - curtains, ottoman had stains. There was a beautiful terrace with a copper tub and the tiles in the bathroom are stunning. The worst thing for me was the smell - the strong fabuloso smell lasted for the whole two days and made me feel sick. It's also not quiet - other guests are allowed to be loud with music, outside and inside - and it's also located on a busy road. The other noise issue was a very loud pump above our room on the roof, that was on all day. The shower drain was clogged. The terrace door did not lock, and there was easy access to our terrace from a walkway in the hotel. The bedding and mattress are not great - 5 out of 10. And the lighting is very dim - the one lamp on the table was very cheap. There was a beautiful soft lamp on the ceiling. The potential for this place is huge, we were very disappointed.

I am mostly a trusting person. And I trusted the staff to follow through on refunding me $300+ for 3 cancelled night's stay due to my inability to sleep as a result of their negligence and incompetence in running a good hotel. However, after my nightmarish experience with this hotel, I am, sadly, much less trusting. My story of theft and incompetence by the employees and hotel director at Villa Arthotel 1927 in Chapala Mexico: I was was to stay at the the Villa 1927 Arthotel the last week in March 2022. However, I had to cut my stay short by 3 days due to a major problem at this hotel Pamela, an employee at this hotel seemed quite nice at the beginning. She spoke English as did the manager, Norma. Both Pamela and Norma, along with their 'boss', a non-English speaking man, agreed to refund 3 nights of my stay, totaling over $300. This was due to my losing 2 nights sleep as a result of this hotel allowing partying until 2am in the pool area located directly in front of my room! They were catering mostly to the golf families that came for the wknd from Guadalajara who had many kids and wanted to party all night. I was only 1 person, who did not seem to count. I met with both Pamela and the main director of the hotel, (a non English speaking man, whose name, I unfortunately lost ). As witnessed by, employee Pamela who translated, "The boss" agreed to refund me 3 days stay, totaling over $300, as I planned to leave 3 days early due to exhaustion from being kept up for several nights. due to partiers This was the last week of March 2022. Upon leaving, I did not get my refund only a hotel print out that, I thought stated my refund would be forthcoming on my next credit card statement. However, since March '2022 I 'have not received my refund! That was 5 months ago!! After waiting until May 2022, I had my Spanish speaking friend contact the hotel she spoke to both Pamela, my main witness/translator, AND on yet another call she spoke to Norma who knew of this refund and promised she would be crediting my card ASAP! Despite being forced to 'run after" them, (what kind of decent hotel does that?) , making approximately no less then 8 phone calls (often no one speaking English was there)m and FINALLY speaking to both Pamela and Norma, still NO REFUND!!! For the first few calls about the whereabouts of my refund, they had explanations of delay due to Mexico's banking, made by NORMA and promises of a refund, also made by PAMELA always telling me through translator to wait, yet another month,. it is now September and still NO REFUND!!! Besides the fact that I have not received my $300+, neither employee made any effort to contact me. This was an important aspect of how disrespectful and unprofessional they have been throughout this fiasco. The time, effort, and emotional cost (as I am someone whose $300 is a lot of money), involved is clear. Given that I don't speak Spanish and always needed my Spanish friend around to call the

I think that this is a very nice boutique hotel on the boardwalk. Checking was good, friendly. We had a room on the ground floor without a view, I wish we had changed that as it simply would have been much nicer. The access to the boardwalk was excellent, we did not use the pool as it was overcast but the grounds were wonderful. We had an issue with the shower, and some drama, but overall I enjoyed the hotel and would come back.

DO NOT STAY HERE! While it is a beautiful property, they scam you into wrong charges. Not only did they charge us for a premium room with clogged drains, ($300 USD) they presented a dirty washcloth at checkout to make us pay money to replace it. The “luxury” bathtub had no plug so we used the washcloth to keep the water in. Complete filth! We had to switch rooms due to extremely loud mariachi music playing until 12am next door. No hot water for shower in the morning. DO NOT PAY CASH, use your credit card to save you from these criminals.

No vale la pena el precio ni por el lugar, ni por la atención, ni por las amenidades, deberían cobrar la mitad por lo que ofrecen. Mas que hotel boutique es un vil Balneario, era media noche música a todo volumen en la alberca, gritos, gente cantando, niños gritando etc pregunté a las 9:50 pm a recepción via whatsapp hasta qué hora lo permitían porque mi ventana daba a la alberca, me contestaron a las 0:29 que ya los habían desalojado o sea casi 3 horas después. Definitivamente hay mejores opciones (chante spa, Donaire, areval, quinta fabiana, La Vitabella) creanme, no gasten su dinero decepcionante lugar fue nuestro debut y despedida. Publicidad engañosa, la alberca super clara y azul en sus redes, verdosa en realidad. El “menú” de alimentos anotados en un pedazo de papel, menú de bebidas no nos ofrecieron. Anunciaban cafetera en el cuarto, la tuve que pedir, a otro dia del aseo del cuarto regresamos y no nos habían cambiado lo del café, cuando lo solicité me dijeron ah si pero lo tiene que pedir por whatsapp el cambio(ilógico). Teníamos una reservación fuera para cenar y oh sorpresa al llegar al estacionamiento nuestro vehiculo no podia salir porque 3 carros lo impedían; con el tiempo encima ya no nos daba ir a recepción y mucho menos que 3 personas movieran sus carros, asi que optamos y no nos quedó mas que irnos caminando para no perder la reserva, lo bueno el restaurante estaba a 10 mins caminando, en fin lástima de lugar, tiene potencial pero francamente no le prestan atención nose de donde sacan sus 5 estrellas.

El hotel está muy bien. Un atardecer increíble con esa vista al lago, el personal está muy atento y le están dando su mantenimiento. Cosas por mejorar. En mi casó me gusta ir a descansar por lo que no me interesa salir y todo lo quiero consumir en el lugar. Por lo que le doy un taché. Sería bueno que abrieran más tarde el bar ya que uno ingresa a las 3 y lo cierran a las 5, después de ese horario ya no existe nada dentro del hotel. No vi tampoco servicio de spa. El desayuno es muy bueno
