Hotels in der Nähe von Church Saints Petros and Pavlos, Chalkida

Die Anlage liegt direkt am Meer an einem kleinen künstlich aufgeschütteten Strand, ca. 3 Kilometer vom Dorf Eretria mit kleinem Fährhafen und mehreren Läden und Tavernen entfernt. In unmittelbarer Nähe gibt es Nichts. Den ersten Pluspunkt sammelt das Hotel, dass es auf dem Parkplatz Sonnenschutz für die Autos gibt. Irgendwie erweckt aber die Anlage den Eindruck eines Schullandheims im 80er-Jahre-„Charme“. Ich hätte gern eine bessere Zimmer- Kategorie gebucht, jedoch ist dies auf der Website irgendwie nicht möglich – nur die „Deluxe- Variante“ – zwar mit Meerblick, das war es aber dann auch schon. Zudem gaukeln die Bilder der Website (zumindest was den Balkon betrifft) mehr als die Wirklichkeit vor. Ich hätte mir eine Liegemöglichkeit auf dem Balkon gewünscht. Leider schlägt hier die in Griechenland weit verbreitete Unsitte zu, so etwas auf dem Balkon nur sehr selten anzubieten. Auf den niedrigen Stühlen konnte man nicht einmal lümmeln. Den gewissen rustikalen Charme trug zur Begrüßung schon die Rezeptionistin: Eher an eine Schwester Oberin erinnernd, kein Willkommen, kein Wort zu viel: “breakfast is from 7.00 -10.00“ war alles an Erklärungen. Nun kann ich es an sich nicht leiden, wenn ich (womöglich sogar etwas erschöpft und/oder genervt von der Anreise) beim Einchecken mit Selbstverständlichkeiten und/ oder Nichtigkeiten zugelabert werde, aber etwas mehr hätte es dann schon sein sollen. Bspw. dass der Fitness- Raum geschlossen ist. Ein freundliches Lächeln käme sicher nicht nur bei mir gut an. Die Zimmertrakte liegen verwinkelt, über viele Treppen und Ecken erreichbar. Es gibt einen Lift, versteckt im hinteren Teil der Anlage. Auf dem Zimmer wartet kein Begrüßungsgeschenk, wie sonst in Griechenland üblich. Die Minibar (deren Kompressor zudem laut brummt, und die sich nicht ausschalten, oder der Stecker ziehen lässt) ist leer. (Ich weiß, dass dies wg. Corona so ist, aber wenigstens waren bisher immer Wasserflaschen drin) Leider hat man keine Möglichkeit Tee und/oder Kaffee zuzubereiten. Alles ziemlich trist! 5 Sterne? Never ever! Jeglicher Glamour- Faktor oder gar Luxus- Faktor fehlt hier völlig! Fernsehempfang ohne ausländische Sender – nunja… Offensichtlich wurde aber vor nicht allzu langer Zeit „modernisiert“ TV (mit idiotischer Bedienung) und – viele – Steckdosen mit Pontenegro- Signets… und Bedieneinheiten für die – sehr hellen – Beleuchtungen. Der „do not disturb“ Hinweis versteckt sich in eben solch einer Bedienleiste in der Mitte über dem Bett. Etwas „Luxus“ deutet sich durch „Guy Laroche“ Bademäntel und Decke an. Weder am Pool noch am Strand werden Badetücher gereicht, Auflagen für die Liegen konnte ich keine ausmachen. Frühstück ist okay – es gibt recht viel frisch zubereitetes, Capuccino kostet extra, jedoch ist der „reguläre“ Kaffee erstaunlich gut und rettet den kurz aufgekommenen Eindruck der knausrigen Gastunfreundlichkeit. Let me start by the end of our trip. I have neveer checked out from a hotel after one weel stay without the reception asking me how was our stay or wishing a safe return home. And this summarizes all I have to say regarding the hotel mindset in managing their guests. The hotel is clearly understaffed and that can be noted in different ways. The young staff around the pool and beach work hard to deliver drinks and snacks during the day. The pool bar usually had only 2 hardworking people to serve all the guests, which makes you wait sometimes 20 minutes for a drink. On a side note, cocktails were delicious but they are the same throughout the week. No different choices to be made. If you want different drinks, the word ”extra” comes immediately. Pizzas during afternoon is a great touch by the hotel. The beach and the sea are excellent. Note that the sand beach is small so do not expect long walks by the sea, but all the furniture at the beach and around the pool and garden are good and sufficient for all the guests. That was the highlight of all week. The sea was perfect. Activities in the water (one hour per day) were good. The outdoor gym is actually a nice touch and there are 2 table tennis for guest use. Unfortunately the table tennis rackets are in such a state that could only be used for a fire (literally in wood…), which is an indication how the hotel operates. And although two table tennis available, there were only two rackets to play. During our stay, my wife was always on time and ready for the morning exercise (Pilates or yoga). The hotel failed four out of seven days. One of days the instructor actually did not appear and no one seems to care even after reporting. Rooms are small sized but comfortable and with a balcony, which is a must. Cleaning is spotless and we have appreciated that as it was only one person doing the cleaning. Very, very efficient and hard worker. Be aware that when you shower there will be water all over the small bathroom. There is no full protection in the shower deck, which makes it somehow danger after showering due to slippery. The rooms soundproofing is poor and we had terrible experiences, either with loud guests screaming in the room (not children, adults) at night, which the hotel tried to manage it and we had one terrible experience. We were located in rooms that had just outside a pump that worked all night during one specific night. We have complained during dinner time to reception (so around 20H), called from the room after dinner (twice) and actually the hotel did nothing to stop it. The result was one full night without sleeping for all the family. Thank you Brown Beach for that! In the following day, after my morning complain to the reception, the hotel manager apologized and informed us that they had a problem with the pump. A 25 minute massage was offered, which was nice, but that does not replace the careless for our complaints in the night before. It was only needed to shut down the pump and
