As we drove out of the park yesterday, our 7 year old asked if we would come again one day, so we took that as a good sign. We spent 10 nights in a tent in the Wildenberg area with children aged 10, 7 and 5. This is a beautiful area where we saw red squirrels, hedgehogs, rabbits, a woodpecker, bats and we heard owls in the night. The communal kitchen with grills over a fire pit was very useful, and the communal campfire was also a sociable focus point at times. We had booked a treehouse, which was bigger than we expected, with electric lighting and a plug point. If the weather had been worse, we may have used it more, but there are so many other areas to play in that our children only used it occasionally. However, it was very useful when we arrived in the rain, as we were able to shelter in there and wait for the rain to pass before setting up our tent. The sanitary block near the Wildenberg was clean and we never queued for showers or toilets. We appreciated the inclusion of electricity with all pitches, as we usually choose not to pay the extra for that, but taking a plug-in coolbox makes life so much easier, although there was a communal fridge-freezer available. Our three children loved the slides into the swimming lake and the play equipment in and around it. There are play areas dotted all over the campsite, a beautiful wildflower area with beehives, a petting farm, a BMX track, and a fun splash park for younger children, all of which we enjoyed. During the summer there are train rides and an interactive trail with a prize, which our children took part in. We didn't really take part in the other activities available. The staff and most Dutch adults in general speak good English, which is very useful! Some of the behaviour of other guests can be inconvenient, especially teenagers, and there didn't seem to be much enforcement of the rules eg. In the swimming pool, there was CCTV but, in the three times we used it, nobody came to address any of the rule-breaking behaviour. We were still able to enjoy our time in there. However, it did get overcrowded, with people clearly flouting the system of scanning a personal QR code upon entry. Again, this did not seem to be enforced. At the weekends, particularly the one forecast to be hot, the campsite was much busier and there was often loud thumping music late into the night, not near us but still audible. Sometimes dogs were barking very late too. It didn't bother us too much, as our children were able to sleep through it thankfully, but it is something to bear in mind. Overall, we had a very happy holiday here and would recommend it, especially during sunny weather.
