Quinta Camarena

I cannot recommend this magical place enough. The retreat met—and truly went beyond—all of my expectations. It was an authentic and heartfelt experience, where everything was offered with generosity and intention, and always with the freedom to engage as much or as little as I liked. Waking up to morning yoga in the gentle spring light of this beautiful corner of Alentejo, walking through dappled forest paths to a serene practice space surrounded by trees and birdsong... it felt like a dream. The yoga was led by teachers deeply connected to their practice, offering it in such a kind, gentle, and inclusive way that I always felt supported to meet the class at my own pace. Breakfasts were a daily highlight—healthy, delicious, abundant meals full of love. Fresh juices, cakes, coffee, fruits, cereals… everything prepared and shared with so much care. And the evening meals—wow. Shared around the table, they were truly 5-star experiences, lovingly cooked by Raffel and Dona Maria. Every dish struck that perfect balance between delicious and deeply nourishing. You could taste the care in every bite, and the joy of gathering together made it even more special. The days were filled with unforgettable experiences: horseback riding through rolling hills, magical hikes along the coast with dips in the Atlantic, joyful dinners out, and so much laughter—deep, belly laughter. All of it set in the warmth and comfort of Quinta Camarena, surrounded by the infectious enthusiasm of Vera, Cam, Marco, and their wonderful team. This place is something truly special. If you're considering coming—do it. It's an experience you'll carry with you long after you leave.

We just finishing hosting our second art retreat at Quinta Camarena. There is so much to love about this place but it starts with Cam and Vera. Once you have taken Vera’s tour of the property and hear their story, you understand their purposeful vision for Quinta Camarena. Their commitment to sustainability and supporting the local artisans, farmers and producers is obvious everywhere you turn. The farm to table food is exceptional and nourishing – it’s made with fresh, seasonal ingredients which are all sourced locally - if not grown right on their property. The studio space is magical with floor to ceiling doors that open into a beautiful pine forest. It is the perfect spot for a retreat to relax, soak up nature and get inspired! We loved our time at Quinta Camarena. As an older couple we felt very comfortable with the group. The atmosphere was so laid back and the activities were spot on. The hosts are really friendly and chilled and always to hand if you need something. A fantastic break .. We highly recommend!

What a place, I can't fault it in anyway. Cam and Vera are amazing hosts and work so hard to make you feel welcome and comfortable in their beautiful Quinta. The activities allowed you to really explore the area and get a feel for what it has to offer. The laid back vibe made everyone feel very chilled and it was easy to get on with all the other people on the yoga retreat. I'll definitely be back and already I'm spreading the word to my friends-although I don't want it to become too popular :)

My husband and I attended the Yoga, surf and wine retreat after a busy week before visiting Porto and Lisbon. It was a great way to relax and we enjoyed the yoga and Surfing very much. Everything was organised for us and it was so nice to be looked after so well. The visit to the vineyard and the local artisans was great fun. The hotel was lovely - and loved the location in the woods and being part of the Camarena family home, Cam and Vera were exceptional hosts and managed to get us all to the right place at the right time. Breakfast was delicious especially the lovely sourdough and the freshly made cakes and fresh fruit. The vegetarian dinners were great and we enjoyed our visits to the local restaurants also organised by Cam and Vera. The whole week was very sociable. The pool was lovely to relax by when we had time after all our activities and we really enjoyed meeting all the other travellers. Oh my god the massage was the best ever! Thank you for a fabulous few days.
