Hotel Iberostar Playa Pilar

This could absolutely be a great resort. It has a lovely layout and a gorgeous clean pool. It is advertised as beach front and there is zero , none , no beach, There is a protected coral reef shoreline . I liked the pools. There are enough sunbeds and lounge chairs and that's because if you look at my photos this resort is a ghost-town. There was never more than 8 people in the whole pool area. That's the positive. The gym has no working AC... when in fact it was closed most of our visit. I walked around the resort and spoke to other guests and it was very hard to find anyone that was enjoying or liked the resort. So I believe I am not alone in my opinion. We were a group of girls and dislikes our experience with this resort and ultimately requested being moved to another resort. Check-in was terrible. We had a person in our party with mobility issues and I pretty much had to cry to get her on the first floor. I sent an email in advance asking for our 3 rooms to be together but .. nope...of course they say they never received it. I am going to find, my request it as I did save it somewhere. Unfortunately the whole resort is very poorly cleaned and not maintained at all. This resort is very neglected, which is a shame, as it could be beautiful, under proper management. All the staff was rude; except the maid. Although one night my room was made up with no top sheet , only a bottom. so I went to the lobby in my pajamas since my phone didn't work, stumbling in unlit paths. Half the bulbs are out or either broken. The rooms are old but still look decent. Telephones in the rooms did not work, The AC worked a bit; but wouldn't cool below 24 degrees. So it was fairly warm. Minibar had no beer or pop, just .Ants, beetles and lizards can enter the room because there are huge gaps on the bottom of the doors. Food is terrible! Likely partly because the resort had such few guests. Cold food is served for lunch and dinner. What you didn’t eat yesterday and the day before yesterday you will eat today and tomorrow. The choice is small, but poorly prepared, not tasty. The meat station is the only place where you can get normal, and most importantly, fresh food, but be prepared to wait for 20 minutes, because only 1 person works there and it's very slow and extremely hot in the miniature buffet. Vegetables and fruits are dry, dehydrated. There was no lettuce... so no salads. Flies are everywhere. I sat on a chair full of bird poop every day. I can't believe they are never cleaned. The windows in the buffet are filthy. Never seen anything like it. Staff are always chatting and besides the maid and the chef; everyone else stands around and talks way too much. No work gets done. I really could go on and on. This was a horrible experience. In my opinion as a experienced traveler; this is no where near a 5 star resort!

We stayed at this resort April 2-9th. The hotel is very nice, room was clean, hot water always and the maid service was great! The food was minimal and very repetitive but we never went hungry. The beach was a bit of a disappointment for me. There is a boardwalk all along the front with a small opening to go out into the water. The water was clear and beautiful as always in Cuba. Leo from the animation team is such a nice guy. Great to chat with him, he tries to get people up and going but it’s kind of a more quieter resort. There is a guy on the beach that does men’s hair cuts. I can’t remember his name but he is amazing!! Best haircut my boyfriend has ever had. Entertainment in the evening is always the same dancers, they work hard everyday practicing. All in all we had a great vacation, I probably wouldn’t return because of the beach.

This was our third time at Iberostar Playa Pilar. We like it, we aren’t huge travellers but we’ve been to a few all inclusive resorts. We keep wanting to return here for three reasons 1) the people, don’t know how they hire but the staff are amazing! Must be a priority that they have a smile and a big heart. We met Janet x2 at the main desk, Lewis and Richard at the Japanese a la carte, Leo in the main buffett, Basil and Andreas on the beach, Julie in housekeeping, great bartenders in the sports bar !! Just too many to name them all. All are hard workers and take their jobs seriously and professionally. We want to thank them for making our trip relaxing and stress free. 2) the beach!! It is not your conventional long beach with big rolling waves. It is a beautiful cove that you can swim in morning til night! We snorkeled and had loads of fun searching out beautiful star fish, little fishes and shellfish. A boardwalk for safe and convenient entry into the water, and I might add for watching the beautiful sunsets! 3)safety. The place feels safe. We did not once encounter anyone or anything that felt sketchy or unsafe. All doors locked and unlocked, safe in every room and carefully planned gardens and walkways kept absolutely stunning by wonderful gardeners. Maybe a little hint for growth might be someway to keep the hot food hot, often it was at best warm. Sometimes the grill was slow but it was hot and delicious. Many kids enjoyed the pasta, but there was no pizza or chicken nuggets. It’s Cuba so we enjoyed Cubas food! Special thanks to Will for bringing guests together and for chatting about our stay! This was my first time visiting Cuba and staying at an all inclusive resort.we booked at Cayo coco, playa Pilar and loved it , the staff are second to none. The food was very good in the buffet and we always found something that we liked.The pool area and beach was fantastic and very well kept. Tha Japanese restaurant was fantastic and very entertaining. I would like to give a special thank you to Janet Milian (customer service manager) who dealt with a little problem that I was having with my room key,it was dealt with promptly and to my satisfaction and she always had a wonderful smile that made her very approachable , keep up the great work.Dealing with the public isn’t always easy but she did a great job. Thank you .

The entertainment was great with the amazing dances and interactive shows. The staff here are very friendly especially, Leandro, Larry and Luis were very friendly and made our trip very unforgettable. The room was nice with a fabulous ocean view. Although there wasn’t a disco at this resort we had a great time making friends by the pool and after the shows. The beach was very close to the pool. The food wasn’t the best but I would definitely recommend the Japanese restaurant, best meal I’ve had all trip! This was our first time here and I would definitely return to this resort in the future.

This resort is amazing and definitely recommend to anyone all ages! Food is great and tasty. They have 7 different restaurants along with a buffet and 24 hour snack bar. The weather is beautiful, and they have the most gorgeous beach. Staff are extremely welcoming and treat you amazing your entire stay. They have nightly shows that again, are amazing and it’s something different every night. The staff her really make the trip great. Pool area always has music and it’s in whole, so much fun. Very clean as well.

This resort is one of my favourite places. I have been here 3 times and that will continue . The people who work here are absolutely amazing . They treat you like family and are always happy and smiling. The bartenders are amazing. Entertainment team is amazing. The management is great. The hotel rooms are clean and new. The beach is the most beautiful thing to be seen. I have found my resort and will be coming back regularly. Iberostar playa Pilar has my heart . Will is also amazing .

Dagnia is absolutely the best, our kid was having so much with her Kids show every night at 8pm. Shes very sweet and awesome with kids. She planned an amazing schedule for our kids during our stay and made sure the kids have both education and entertainment sessions. During the nights she planned kids disco club where kids had competitions and dance parties. She was absolutely the best.

I’ve just recently been to this resort March 31st-April 7th i had an amazing weeek, the weather is beautiful the pools are great and clean the ocean is beautiful with a walk way into the water which is stunning there is always alcohol. Some things were not the greatest such as room doors not locking, toilets that won’t flush, safes that won’t lock or won’t open once locked minor things that can be fixed with a room change or just asking for maintenance to come to your room.BIG SHOUTOUT to yudy, Adonis, Mariel at the swim up bar boss lady she’s amazing nice and will be sure u have a good time, dagnia who works with the kids and does the evening shows, and Luis who also does entertainment and fun games such as ping pong connect four salsa dancing etc. my trip was amazing solely due to the amazing stafff
