Hotel Boutique Castiglione del Lago

What a wonderful small hotel, run by an equally wonderful family (father, mother, son & daughter). A lot of perfect detailing went into this building which dates to the 16th century. The rooms (we stayed in one, but visited many) are gorgeous. Breakfast is served (and damn good), and both the daughter (Julia) and son (Matteo) speak English well, if needed. Paolo (the father) greets you enthusiastically with his booming "Buongiorno!" This is a sweet little village. Not much to do In February, but apparently "hops" in the summer. About an hour's drive to Orvieto, Assisi, or Montpulciano. You'll have fun here.

However hidden away this seems, the rooms are beautifully appointed and the service throughout could not be faulted. The suite we were offered was slightly bizarre so we stayed in a Junior Suite which was really lovely. Breakfast was great too, even for off season

The hotel selection was great; right in the center of the town. The room was very clean and comfortable: the bed and pillows great. Paulo and his family were superb hosts who were always ready with suggestions and assistance. Fantastic stay!

We spent the e weekend in Castiglione and stayed at Hotel Boutique. Excellent location, super-central. Exquisite room with antique fresco on the walls, but with all the modern comforts. A very warm welcome from the team there. A special mention goes to the cotton towels, a very nice touch there, thank you! Shout out to the wonderful breakfast too. We’ll be back when on the area. This the loveliest hotel… it felt like staying with family ….they made us so welcome! We were offered an upgrade to a beautiful suite with frescoes on the wall… very comfortable with everything you might need. Paullo, Roberta and Matteo could not have done more to make our stay more lovely. They picked us up and dropped us back to the station, recommended great places to visit and eat and did all they could to make our stay great. We stayed in the deluxe suite of the Hotel Boutique Castiglione del Lago this week. The room is lovely, with an amazing balcony that gives you a full view of the lake. From there, you can capture all of the light that makes Umbria famous, both sunset and sunrise. The package we chose included open minibar, a bottle of wine, and breakfast. Because it is off season, our breakfast, pre-ordered, was delivered to us on our terrace at the time of our choosing. The room is spotless, the bed heavenly, the shower indulgent. We slept in the cool and quiet, with the door to the terrace open (and a great screen door to keep the mosquitos out!). But above all, the best thing that the Hotel has going for it is its staff -- Paolo greeted us enthusiastically, personally showing us the room, gave us some history, and then pointed out who lived where around the lake. He took care of our every concern and recommended a fantastic place for dinner that showed off the areas tremendous seafood. The morning crew was just as delightful, with suggestions on the best time to come back, when the Christmas festival was going to be, and when the spring celebration of the start of the tourist season was. There is not a better place to stay in Castiglione del Lago to get a good night's sleep -- and most importantly, to hear the pride of the residents in a place they so clearly love.
