Greet Hotel Castets Coeur des Landes

Newly built Hotel. Perfect position for an overnight stop between south of Valencia and Cherbourg. 8 hours to each. Clean, comfortable bed, good size TV, nice shower and bathroom. Aircon that works. Very quiet though less than 5 mins to the A63 motorway. Easy off-road parking outside the hotel. Castets itself only has 5 or 6 restaurants, which we found had limited menus and also quite pricey. However there is a Steak House within 300 metres, a MacDonalds, not so good for vegetarians and pescatarians, and Le Relais de Castets, which is a Les Routiers restaurant, uniquely French, Google them if you don't know about them, costs around 13€, and is walkable from the hotel, maybe 300 metres.

We thought that we would stay here due to it's green credentials but ended up disappointed. On arrival we were greeted with disdain as I would guess we didn't look hip enough, either that or we interrupted the two people behind the desk flirting with each other. Left hanging whist check in was dealt with which took longer than anywhere I have been in my life, were overcharged because I think that they didn't know we could speak French adequately and then told our room numbers - not told how to get there, just given the card. The plus side was that one of the rooms was very nice indeed, the other wasn't as expected. The shower was great and the bed comfortable. No one told us that this being a recycled hotel that the breakfast was too! It was good to see that there were few matching cups/plates/chairs/tables etc but the food was diabolical. For the price that was paid I know that there are better deals out there. The check out was much smoother and with a much nicer guy, however, we won't be going back.

The good thing about this hotel is that it is new and next to the autoroute without too much noise. The staff tried to be friendly but could not make up for these defects: - no Wifi even though the corporate info offers it. Really annoying of you are en route back home and have used up your data bundle. - no Amex even though Accor offer it (and we used it to guarantee the reservation !). They claim they could not set it it up yet (since opening in April!) but I have my own business and it took me a few days to set it up. - expensive: it cost 175plus euros for one night for a room for 3 which is exactly double of what we were charged in a higher category Ibis Styles that same month - air conditioning is centrally controlled and you have to ask them to turn it on but nobody tells you that so you first spend ages trying to switch it on (and then they unilaterally turn it off at 3 or 4 in the morning!) - when we asked for some chips or peanuts or olives or other bubbly bits with the bar drinks they said they had nothing -- even if we were willing to pay for it (at breakfast the next morning we saw they had various types of cheese which they could have cut into cubes but their customer orientation didn't stretch that far...) By the way there is 10% discount in the Tshanka restaurant next door for guests because it belongs to the same owner as the hotel.

Très bon accueil, le personnel est souriant et à l'écoute du client. De plus, le petit-déjeuner est complet et la propreté de la chambre n'est pas à contester. Tout est neuf car l'hôtel vient tout juste d'ouvrir. Merci beaucoup 😌

El hotel está muy nuevo y, aunque tiene los servicios básicos, esto es más que suficiente si estás de viaje. La zona es tranquila. De cara a comer o cenar, hay 2 opciones que están al lado del hotel: un restaurante al que no tuvimos la ocasión de ir y un McDonald's.
