Luna Lodge

This is a very special place. I have visited three times and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The attention to detail from the owner, Lana, and her staff is first class. You are in the rainforest and have the opportunity to see so many wild tropical birds and mammals. That is only a small part of this lodge though. This space is a place to become grounded, relax, and become more connected to nature and yourself. This will not be my last trip to the lodge!

Beautiful, remote location, high on a mountain side, great food, and friendly, excellent service. I stayed in a tent cabin, which I loved! Really comfortable bed, nice, clean bathroom, very few bugs. Amazing setting! One thing to note; most of the tent cabins are 180+ steps up a steep hillside. You might consider the tent cabins near the dining area. Also lovely, set in the tropical forest, close to the dining area, but you can’t really hear it. I was primarily there for the birding which I really enjoyed. Andres was my guide, and he was great! A few other things to be aware of. The lodge is a good two hours from Puerto Jiménez and it’s a pretty bumpy, unpleasant Drive. Classic, Costa Rican Road travel. If you’re renting a car, make sure it’s a four-wheel-drive vehicle, and be prepared for some pretty hairy bridge crossings and a very steep entry into the lodge. Also, the beach is 3 km away. It’s really steep walking down and of course, the same is true on your way back up, which I can’t really imagine doing though I did walk down once and I would not recommend that either! If you’re into yoga, the yoga platforms are absolutely stunning! I had a great stay, and highly recommend the place to anyone wanting a little adventure, some comfort, great food and Birding all at the same time.

Luna lodge is a truly magical place. I find no other words to describe how beautiful it is. The views of the clouds emerging from the surrounding primary rainforest is breathtaking. The hikes to the waterfalls on the property feels unreal. Several days we bathed in the waterfalls alone, just accompanied by spider monkeys in the trees and blur morpho butterflies. The beach at the foot of the mountain is also amazingly beautiful. It leads to the Corcovado national park, where we saw countless animals, including a tapir and an ant eater. It is like stepping into a nature documentary. The resort has a few beautiful wooden bungalows and also tents. We stayed in a bungalow and it was very comfortable. There is also a nice pool to cool off in after hikes in the steaming rain forest. The staff at the Luna lodge are the sweetest people imaginable. The guides are very competent and passionate and the restaurant staff and drivers are warm and kind. The owner, Lana Wedmore, took the time to speak to all the guests. The story of how she created Luna lodge is very inspirational (I read her book while I was there). She leads yoga classes at the resort, that I loved. If you a looking for an unforgettable experience in the rain forest, this is the place for you.

Hi from Costa Rica, it`s a exotic experience, a place to see birds like Cusinga, Aracari, Trogones (Quetzal family), waterfall so powerfull, a place like home, you sleep in the heart of the rainforest, snakes, platforms to practice Yoga, amazing.

Great stay at Luna! The nature is unbelievable and extremely beautiful! Plus the whole Luna team are wonderful and cared great about us! The kitchen is excellent and our guide Andreas was absolutely excellent!! We saw great wild life and the rain forest is so beautiful and unique!!
