Hotel Scalinatella

This is a magical place on the top of a cliff in Capri. The view is amazing, but so is the food. We ordered fresh fish a la salt, and it was one of the best dishes of our trip! The service is exemplary, highly recommend this high end restaurant. Visited during May

This hotel seemed perfect for us and we had booked a room, so happy to celebrate our wedding anniversary there. The thing is that communication with them has been the most insulting and terrible we ever had since we travel in 30 years. This is what happened : I sent an email asking for the price of a private boat transfer. I received a quotation of 1400 euros and a few days later they told me that price had increased by 400 euros. I therefore asked them to contact the boat company because this was not very serious to change rates. Then the hotel staff (named Nicolas) sent me a message with explanation marks saying that the difference was so small. I therefore replied that it was not a small difference to me but he was so rude in his tone that I asked him if I should consider to cancel my reservation. And guess what ? His answer was yes do cancel ! So to the management of the hotel and their owners (to whom I will also write) : If that is the way you think hospitality should look like when you charge 1500 euros per night well… you should seriously consider a job change. There are plenty beautiful hotels in Capri who will certainly be happy to welcome new guests and who will not treat them like you do. The good is that I prefer to have experienced this well enough in advance as all the service they tried to give me during the reservation process was terrible : took weeks to get a reply, restaurants recommended did not have any description. It seemed all the way that they just did not care about their guests.

This hotel was really the highlight of our 3-week trip to Italy. We stayed for 4 nights and my wife and I were both blown away by the beauty of the hotel and quality of service. We had room 67 I believe, on the lower floor and were rewarded with a large deck with spectacular views and 2 bathrooms, one of which was huge with a shower and 2-person tub. We also really loved the service offered by the concierge Luigi, who helped coordinate a private boat tour as well as highlighted scenic walks around the island. He also provided us with multiple tickets to the furnicular and even our ferry tickets off the island! They also coordinated the transfer of our luggage from the ferry to the hotel and back again, but that carries an additional charge of I think €18 per piece of luggage. The pool area is super nice as well with many chaises available that also have spectacular views over the island and water. Drinks can be ordered and consumed poolside while food can be ordered but eaten at the outside tables. Lastly the breakfast was excellent with many pastries and fruit and coffees by order. One small complaint is the coffee wasn't steaming hot which is how we like it. We stayed at another 5-star hotel in Sorrento on this trip that was also spectacular but it cost €300 more per night, so this hotel seemed a great value at €920 per night. My wife absolutely loved this hotel and Capri and would come back in a heartbeat.

This is a fantastic hotel. Stayed October 2024. Great rooms, service, and location. We stayed in room 68 which is huge with wonderful views. We would return tomorrow and highly recommend. The reception staff are fantastic and it is well worth using the bag collection and drop off service

This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The property is unique and has beautiful things to look at in every direction. The room was luxurious and the view was 1,000/10. The location is a little walk beyond the town which allows it to be a peaceful place to get away from the crowds but still accessible to everything you want to do (btw Fontelina Beach club is very near by if that’s on your agenda). The service is great - the staff is kind, hospitable, and looks out for your best interest.

Beautiful View, but far from the center considered the walk with the luggage. Three swimming pools, only one - on another property - accesible for children. To go there need to go out of the hotel, pass though another property and private houses, the n end up in the pool that is a 4 star standard. The rooms are 4 star standard too, old furniture and bathroom/shower with stained steel from age. Amenities are 4 star as well. Good restaurant. Too many stairs to go from room, to restaurant, to the pools. No spa. Modern gym but facing a falling apart building. Small pets not accepted. Won’t come back.
