Solar Do Conde

Accommodation consists of either bungalows or terraced apartments (we had a bungalow) The bungalow has a kitchen with a small fridge, a microwave, a stove and dishes. Attention, there is no oven. There is free parking and a swimming pool. There is a large park with many interesting plants and trees. Breakfast and dinner were great :-)

Não recomendo o restaurante! Restaurant not recommended! Very bad experience! The owner was there and his attitude was in line with the entire bad experience! You should read all the bad feedback and take actions! I would say - be less Conde and more Customer Oriented!

The rooms are lovely The staff that are in the restaurant and reception are lovely The food is terrible Chef salad ( no description on the menu) A mountain of wilted lettuce with 2 slices of cucumber and half a tomato with pineapple, grapes,kiwi fruit ( looked like cut with a butter knife!) apple & stuffed olives To be honest looked like whatever was left in the fridge !! Tonight’s dinner promised a solar burger Again no description but was the cheapest of burgers I would think you can buy with a fried egg on top and chips that although reasonably tasty were pale and limp Service was great but marred by the owner/manager bullying her staff to the point of tears ( her and the three men accompanying her were the only other diners) Great shame as it could be so nice but quality of produce shows meanness of spirit

The hotel has a great location on the outskirts of Capelas on the north coast of Sao Miguel, with nice views of the rolling hills in the background and a glimpse of the Atlantic from some of the apartments. The accomodation consists of either bungalows or terraced apartments. A car or a taxi is necessary to get around the island, although there are buses to and from Ponta Delgada, with the bus stop in front of the Moby Dick Cafe (I know, I know !!) some 200 m. from the hotel. If you want to walk to Capelas town be VERY careful because the road is extremely narrow, barely wide enough for two cars to pass each other, and NO footpaths on either side most of the way. I would definitely not recommend walking on this road at night. The rooms were nice and clean, and the receptionist Lucia was very friendly and helpful. She might be able to provide you with a mobile router for the room. There is a large but neglected park at the back, which has a number of interesting plants and trees. Well worth seeing. We had ordered a half-board holiday and here comes the interesting part : The breakfast was OK, but the dinner was something different. The first evening dinner started with the Soup of the day which was quite inedible, tasting like dish water with small bits of vegetables floating around. My wife gave up after the first spoonful, but I being more adventurous and famished after a 5 hour flight, closed my eyes and gulped it down. Then came the tough medium-rare meat on a skewer which appeared to have belonged to a long-suffering cow. I wont't mention the dessert. The next evening the same veg. soup reappeared under a different disguise, after being blended, the same veggies from the previous evening also turned up and were once again rejected by both of us. On the day of the the Last Supper we were pleasantly surprised by a fairly decent dinner. Cook must have been feeling much better, and was therefore complimented for his efforts. Wish he had done better earlier. Anyway, we can't say that we hadn't been warned by previous reviews, but thought how bad can the food be. Believe me, it can be bad !! Capelas is well worth a look around, try the cafe next to the church. They have a small balcony at the back with great views of the coast. There are a couple of restaurants in town but we never got to try them !!

It’s always hard to tell from photos but this place far exceeded my hopes. The property is large, sunny, well designed and landscaped. There are old buildings that blend seamlessly with the new. The breakfast area and pool are modern, airy and relaxing. We had a bungalow which had a spacious living/dining area with a kitchen. The bathroom was large, with a walk-in shower and bidet. The only negative things I can say are the pool is shallow! Don’t dive. And the dining room where we had dinner had horrible overhead bright lighting where candlelight would have been perfect. The staff could not have been more helpful.

Passamos e vimos Restaurante Solar do Conde!!!! Uma grande, imensa porcaria. Começando na sala onde nos levaram... 1 salão com u..monte de espelhos velhos e sem qualquer ventilação e nem ar condicionado. Mal atendidos, nem 1 garrafa dr água gelada tinha... pedimosvpao de alho... veio pão de forma passado bem longe de qualquer alho Nem saleiro tinha... pous me entregaram um que não saia sal. Pedi um queijo quente, que veio frio. Uma massa que veio morna e ainda não sei se era uma salada de massa com peito de frango grelhado sem qualque tempero. Um DESASTRE !!!! Como hotel, não posso atestar nada, mas como restaurante... uma LÁSTIMA

Nous avons été bien déçu par cet hôtel où nous sommes restés 4 nuits en demi-pension. Les extérieurs sont en friche, nous devions avoir un bungalow, finalement nous avons eu une chambre, nous n'avons pas pu nous faire à manger pour le midi. La demi pension nous a bien déçue également, un bol de soupe tous les soirs et le choix entre 2 plats bien frugales sans parler des desserts. Les petits déjeuners sont quelconques... Le personnel est agréable mais nous ne garderons pas un souvenir mémorable de cet endroit. La soufflerie au-dessus du restaurant empêche la tranquillité au bord de la piscine... Vraiment dommage.
