Meerendal Boutique Hotel

My overall stay was pleasant. The improvement that will help is for guests (especially business travel) Restaurant would be to link restaurant bills to hotel rooms to facilitate a smooth business travel instead of having to pay at each restaurant visit.

What a beauty of a place - the design and quality of the room matched the tranquil outside setting! A lovely, nestled space to unwind and recharge. The rolling lawns and a walk about the vineyard was so refreshing and a great reminder of the many beautiful gems that our country has to offer... It was a short business trip with no chance to explore the restuarant

I know the term Boutique Hotel is often over used …and once again this is a case of such! A) it is not a Hotel, it is a non serviced guesthouse B) has very few services if any C) don’t expect food and especially after 6pm D) Emory mini bar… no snacks With regards breakfast, you share the same service as the public with which ever venue is open at the estate at the time. This is my third night here and if I had not asked I wouldnt have known that they closed the previous farmstall venue and I now need to eat at Carluccis. I was told this morning that I am unable to spend more than £5 on breakfast as part of the ‘4* Star Hotel package’ thus if you wish coffee, smoothie or orange juice all extra cost!!?….hmmm not great. Previous breakfast I could only have orange concentrat (not fresh) or coffee… not both (Farmstall venue) and ski if I wanted a cappuccino then there would be an extra cost!!! Again great location and very clean. In terms of value for money…GBP£ 110/ night for room (ZAR 2,300/night) I am sure I can get better value and some service elsewhere. I am guessing it caters more for the local market…if I was earning ZAR and paying that amount per night …not sure I would be that happy Please don’t expect to eat or have someone on estate assist after 7:30pm . I arrived in Cape Town in the evening 8pm , whilst in Joburg I attempted to call a few times over 2 days to confirm my booking (which I booked through ********* ). After 6 calls it was answered, but No one could tell be if I had a reservation . I also wanted to notify them that I would be later and would it be possible to I have some food or a sandwich on arrival! Again no one answered earlier that day too on the designated telephone number. It is a nice clean guesthouse in a great setting but don’t expect any service…and at times WiFi Overpriced for what you get, and l no service or curl et service . Perhaps the owner should spend more time at the location rather than managing remotely from Malta! Overall Average at best (based on cleanliness and location ) but could be something much better… a real shame. My next business trip will be at another ’ Boutique’ venue perhaps in Hout Bay, Camps bay or Blouberg
