I stayed here whilst on business. Room was clean and decent size but lots of creaking and noise from corridors, poor water pressure but that’s not the main issue. The “hotel” is old and in need of improvement and I believe is up for sale. The main issue is the food, not the quality but the wait. Waiting over an hr for chilli and rice isn’t great and the issue stems from an over fancy menu with way too many choices of dishes..condense the menu and I think you solve some issues. Breakfast was a similar experience with a long wait for bacon and very poor scrambled eggs again too many choices for a small hotel. Coffee was just warm despite being in a flask like pot brought to the table.l…finished by time breakfast arrived. Only time I’ve stayed in Campbeltown so I don’t know how this place compares to others. For the money I paid it certainly wasn’t good value.

Very poor welcome no one available in reception and no way to contact anyone, eventually a lady arrived and said we were in room 14. Out the front door and round to the left, room was perfectly ok, no view only a wall to look at. Breakfast was good and pleasantly served by a young girl. However at £132 for one night vastly overpriced, we had a disturbed night due to adjacent guests at out side door vaping at least 3 times during the night, doors banging and smell of vape every time. The entrance hallway needs a good clean, cobwebs everywhere and plastic flowers not attractive. Hallway too dark to read any information displayed.

The owners are downright glum and they and the staff clearly don't consider looking after guests a priority. All requests were fullfilled but with an air of "in my time" and without a smile. The rooms are fine, clean and well fitted out. Water pressure is low so showers poor but wifi good. The menus is rediculously extensive and more than their kitchen can cope with as service is slow but the results were generally good. We did however eat out after the first night (No 42 in town was excellant). Breakfast selection poor. Location is out of town and the views are spectacular.

We stayed 5 nights ,relaxing ,peaceful. Everything you need . We had Room 4 I read some bad reviews for this room I would like to say after our stay none of this is fair, the bed was very comfortable and not creaky, the shower was good and plenty of room to close the door, the bath does take a while to fill but lovely and relaxing, the water pressure is low but not an issue, staff perfectly friendly chatty and helpful when needed. lovely breakfast. Very clean throughout .we had the best views over the harbour. It’s no modern and sterile but Full of character, charm Absolutely no complaints. I think sometimes people look for what’s wrong instead of seeing the good. Nothing needs changing.would be lovely to come back again.

We've just had a 7-night stay here and really enjoyed it. The room was very comfortable, and the breakfast an excellent varied offering for a hotel with only 13 rooms. The hotel itself is a lovely Victorian building, and close to the town centre.

Stopped by for the local cheese board. All the cheese was really tasty and the young waitress was lovely and friendly. It's in a lovely location but definitely felt quite outdated. Overall would absolutely recommend for the local cheeses.

This hotel is not great. It needs Alex Polizzi!! This is so sad for a lovely location. Owners are not interested in their guests. Why? Happy to chat amongst themselves with a casual glance. I just did not get it. The room - Poor water pressure in the bathroom and a mix of period and modern in the bedroom. Electric heaters and extension cables. But it was ok. The food - ooft!! Despite all the local producers listed it was not good AT ALL!! (We had to dine out on the second night and other guests did the same). My wife, a chef herself, was mortified with her “ Roast of the day”. Breakfast the following morning was much of the same. There is no bar in this hotel. I quote the owner - “ The bar comes to you”. I presume from a room or store elsewhere and delivered to the seating area by a waitress. Extensive whisky collection that I did admire. Owners not present when we checked out at 8.55am where I would have raised these points. The younger waitresses were lovely. The building is lovely. Its location is lovely. The owners and the poor quality food is the problem here. Or did we just arrive on a bad day. Hell knows! Not for us.

We found the hotel online and called ahead to make a reservation the same day. The hotel is quirky and owner managed. They have been spending the last few years improving it and refurbishing it. Its gorgeous high position on the coast means it sees all weathers as well as offering fine views. If you like small, unusual, charming hotels, Craigard could be for you. I think it lacks personality and it could be more sympathetically restored. Personally I'd love to see it finished more classically and with better attention to detail. We didn't get to see one of the impressive sounding seaview suites but we were allocated a nice and comfortable dog friendly room at the back down a few corridors. Good - The location, the building is impressive, it's historical, it's independent, the bed was really comfortable, big bath sheets were great. Excellent WiFi signal in room 9. The view from the restaurant was excellent. The price was good out of season. The waitress at dinner was polite and helpful. Things we'd change - Replace the noisy bathroom fan for starters. Upgrade the electrics so all lights can be switched off from one bedside switch. Get a proper fire notice rather than a piece of paper pined to the pine wardrobe. The sever at breakfast was attired in Grey sweat pants and hoodie and trainers. Breakfast was just ok. Get a designer in to advise on the restaurant scene and replace the nasty dining chairs. Get the staff to be more attentive. I only had a main course at dinner because I never saw the waitress again all night after she'd checked my lamb was ok. The plate wasn't cleared and I wasn't offered dessert, coffee or a night cap....a missed opportunity for more revenue.

The Hotel itself has the potential to be absolutely 5 star however I will be honest and thorough in this review as in my opinion the problems we had spoiled our break completely and would definitely make me think twice about staying again! Issues that other potential guests need to know about and check before they book also..... My husband and I decided last minute to have a motorbike trip over to Campbeltown so searched *********** and came across this place. We price checked against the Hotel directly and found it marginally cheaper booking direct so went with that option. We paid £195 for what they classified as the best room they have being room no 4, the 'big room at the front'. This rate included breakfast. On arrival at the premises, up a very steep driveway - which on a motorbike with full luggage, rider and pillion was a challenge on its own - we struggled a little but eventually found a semi-safe space to leave our bike (the parking area is more or less all on an incline due to the steep driveway). Having checked in we then climbed the stairs to our room - for lesser able bodies, please note that there is no lift available or assistance offered in helping you with your luggage. The room on first glance is absolutely stunning. Huge bay window overlooking the loch out the front, a massive four poster bed, dining table and chairs and a three piece suite next to the window. A TV and DVD player (which bizzarly had a cut end on it and wasnt actually connected to the TV). Some lovely antique storage furniture also making the room rather lovely to look at. A separate bathroom with shower cubicle and separate large bath (which I will come to separately below as this was where the problems were and boy were they problems!!). We had travelled 180 miles on our motorbike to get to Campbeltown so were quite weary and were looking forward to a relaxing night. We decided to book dinner in the restaurant within the Hotel and were advised on the hour were the booking times. Having booked dinner we had about an hour and a half to relax after our weary travels so sat and enjoyed the peaceful view out of the large bay window. We then went to get ready for dinner. My husband always likes to have a bath while I prefer a shower so we started to run the bath and found the first major problem. A huge standalone bath in the room looked lovely however there was NO cold water coming through the tap. The water pressure in the hotel is absolutely abysmal (as has been said many a time by previous guests) which to be fair may not be their fault but to have NO cold water coming in to the bath is a bizarre concept. The hot water was scalding and because of the low water pressure it ran very slow. If we had left the bath to run itself, it would have taken about an hour to fill and at that, it would have been too hot to lie in! So scrap that idea and just have a shower instead... hmmm okay then! The shower cubicle was a smallish square unit with a
