Il Nuovo Gabbiano

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Very nice hotel for a 3 star hotel: the location at the seafront and close to the town centre are excellent. The view from the balcony was fabulous. The room had a balcony with stunning views to the sea and the mountains. The receptionist lady was very kind and helpful. The room is nicely-decorated and the location is great by the sea, close to the beach and close to the town centre. There is no possibility to have breakfast during the winter season, so we can’t comment on that. We would absolutely return during the summer months, as the beach is very close and the boats to Bue Marino Cave leave just in front of the hotel.

This review is for the restaurant only. Both the food and service were very poor. I expected better given it’s the slow season and there were very few customers. Before we sat down in a near empty restaurant we asked to sit one table over from a couple clearly having a business meeting. Our server didn’t seem happy about that and was very cold toward us the rest of the evening. The food was not great. The Caesar salad was mainly iceberg lettuce, the lasagna was reheated and very overcooked and the mixed seafood was inedible, undercooked fish and mushy calamari.

When we came back after 12 to get into the rooms he gave us a room with no bedsheets, feces in the toilet and hair (***** I assume) in the bidet. When I went back downstairs to tell him he said “I told you the room wasn’t ready”; they had our number, our email address and I called them on the phone before without answer. Why would you give me a dirty room then? If the booking says at 12, one shows up just before that, otherwise we would’ve travelled later (no issue here) but the guy just delivered awful hospitality and should not be working there. Sardinia has great hospitality but this guy Enzo doesn’t deliver it. Luckily, the two women we saw at the reception both later and the next day were both lovely.

It's so nice to sit on a balconey overlooking a harbor. The room is fine, it even has a small walk in closet. The desk clerk went out of her way to be helpful. Boat tours are in front of you, and there's a wonderful promanade along the beaches. The restaurant is okay, too.

Sono stata al Nuovo Gabbiano per una notte a causa di circostanze impreviste ed è stata un'esperienza formidabile. Dal momento in qui sono stata accolta alla reception da Maria Antonietta fino al momento in qui sono ripartita, ho percepito un'ospitalità incomparabile. La stanza, con una splendida vista sul porto, era bella e confortevole, rendendo il mio soggiorno ancora più piacevole. Sono rimasta completamente colpita dalla gentilezza e dall'accoglienza del personale del Nuovo Gabbiano. Viaggiando da sola, hanno fatto di tutto per aiutarmi in ogni modo possibile, rendendo la mia vacanza indimenticabile. Non vedo l'ora di tornare l'anno prossimo! Grazie di tutto cuore!
